Re: appropriate wedding gift for my sister?

My brother, sister, and BIL were all in our bridal party.

My sister (who was only 14)- gave $100. It was really from my parents. (Of course she's 14!)

My brother gave $200 (he's just out of college, low paying job)- you give what you can.

BIL was VERY generous and gave us $1000. (He came alone and was the best man).

I think it depends on your situation financially. I know my brother and sister gave what they could- they're very young. I think $1000 was extremely nice from BIL and almost felt bad taking that much (but he really wanted to give it to us). We'll probably give him the same when he gets married.

Here is what our siblings gave:

I have two older sisters (both in their 40's, both were MOH)

Oldest sister - married with 2 kids - $300

Middle sister - not married, no kids - $500

SIL (a bridesmaid)- 31yo, single, no kids - $300
BIL (best man) - 25yo, single, no kids - $300

My sister gave $50! she's just returning to the workforce from being a SAHM so funds were low for her & her husband (although DH says they knew about our wedding for months...)

My sister gave me a beautiful ring. I can't remember if we got a gift as a couple. I'm sure she did.

My brother gave me nothing . not even a card.

Re: appropriate wedding gift for my sister?

I am probably too late but my brother just got married.

My bf & I gave them $600. But that is after we also gave them a gift gard to BBB for their engagement and we took them to dinner. I was also very generous for the shower and then had the bachelorette party.

Re: appropriate wedding gift for my sister?

I gave my sister nothing! I was in college at the time. I planned to buy her a kitchen set but then she bought it for herself. I'll have to get her something great for their 10th in 2 years.

She and BIL are paying for my flowers. I don't think they should also give me a gift, but I suspect they will.

Re: appropriate wedding gift for my sister?

DH's brothers gave us nothing (and they were in the BP but didn't pay any expenses... MIL & FIL paid for their tuxes, etc., even dh's bach party... they were both in their 20's at the time as well) Chat Icon

My brothers were generous... one gave us $1,000 & the other I don't remember exactly.
