How old was your LO when you dropped down the crib?

My DD is almost 9 months old, but has learned to stand up in the crib holding on. I think it's time to drop down the matteress, but my DH says "no".

He says she is too young. Not true??

She makes me so nervous.

Re: How old was your LO when you dropped down the crib?

Why would your DH say no?

Our crib has 2 lower settings, one thats about 6" off the ground, one that is about 2".

The first time I think was 6m, the second time was 12m when he started to try to put his foot on the top rail and climb out.

I didn't want to because I'm 5'1 and reaching for him is challenging without a step stool.

It is going to be tough for me too. I am short. It is a challenge now.

Thanks

Re: How old was your LO when you dropped down the crib?

We dropped it around 9 months when he pulled himself up to stand. We didn't want to have to take the crib apart too many times, so we just dropped it to the lowest setting at that time. I am only 5 ft 2 in, so it's a bit hard for me to reach in and get him, but it's better than him falling out.

I don't remember how old DS was exactly, but I do remember it was when he was able to pull himself up to standing. I am really short, too, so I thought it was going to be really hard for me. Thank goodness we had gotten him out of the habit of being rocked to sleep. I was putting him down awake at that point.

The minute he stood up, it went to the lowest setting.

I just did this tonight and DS is a little over 8 months.

Last night he got up at 3am to show off that he can now stand in his crib and would not go back to sleep Chat Icon

I am only 5' 2" as well so I feel your pain, but I am sure we will be fine.

Our crib has 2 addt'l settings as well and we did the first drop around 6m and the 2nd very quickly after at 7m bc DS learned how to stand and he's a bit tall for his age so he made us nervous even on the middle setting.

Re: How old was your LO when you dropped down the crib?

We dropped DS#1 all the way to the bottom (3 settings) around 11 months bc he was pulling to standing in his crib

We just moved DS#2 down to setting #2 last weekend (10 months) bc he is rolling all over & we found him one night with his leg over the front of the crib

At 9 months we dropped the crib to what DH said was the lowest setting. At 13 months he climbed out of his crib and THEN we dropped it to the lowest "lowest" settingChat Icon

Re: How old was your LO when you dropped down the crib?

We had to drop ours around 4/5 months b/c DS was standing really early and has the strength of a bull so he was able to pull himself up. we dropped it all the way down b/c it was a PITA to adjust so we figured we only wanted to do it once...

At 6 months, as soon as dd was standing. I'm real short 4'11 but I make it work.
