Re: 1st birthday party
I am throwing DD's 1st bday party in the backyard as well.
-Start with a theme -Entertainment for the kids. We are def. doing a pinata and buying a bouncy house. Probably do a magician next year when she understands -We are catering the food. Probably heros.
That's it. We aren't doing anything crazy.

Re: 1st birthday party
We are having DS's bday in our backyard in a few weeks. You many also want to think about renting a tent, chairs, tables.

Re: 1st birthday party
We are having our DD's 1st b-day in my moms backyard. It'll be mostly adults though, maybe 5 kids total.
We are gonna cater food and MAYBE grill a little on the side.
Other than that I have NOTHING planned and its in August, lol...

Re: 1st birthday party
Had DS's in the backyard as well about 80 pple 14 kids get entertainment if there's enough kids. If it's mostly adults then no need and some music have it catered. so much easier and less stress. we did subs, salads, platters, cake, fruit, cookies, etc from Wegmans (we're in NJ) we did a construction theme.. decorated with yellow, orange, and black b-day signs, construction hats, etc rented tables and chairs figure a good time that works around DD's nap so she's not too moody or out of it just enjoy!
Pics are in my album and we just had his 2nd b-day party last weekend. much smaller for the 2nd, but still fun.

Re: 1st birthday party
We had my DS party outside too-I would agree with PP-We had a Sesame Street theme and used that to decorate, etc. We also did our own food and bought heroes. That seemed to work out well-
I didn't get entertainment, we just did a bounce house-we had kids in a large age range, so I figured they would all like that
HTH!! Good luck :)

Re: 1st birthday party
I am doing DD's first bday next month at a park. The theme is Sesame Street. I am keeping it very simple with food (heros, chips, cut up veggies with hummus. etc.). We are inviting about 20 kids, but I am not getting any kind of entertainment, although I might bring t-ball and a little basketball hoop.

Re: 1st birthday party
We are doing DD's 2nd birthday as the Fresh Beat Band theme just family and a few friends. BBQ for food, pinata, kiddie basketball hoop, kiddie golf & baseball, hoola hoops, frisbees, bubbles, water balloons and if the weather is really nice we have 2 blow up pools. There will only be 10 kids, the rest are teenagers and adults.
