Infant Tylenol for an 8 month old... how much?
My eight month old daughter had an accident today and needed three stitches.
She never cried or fussed over it hurting or anything but the doctor numbed her before he did them so she didnt feel anything... just in case.
I went out and purchased pain medication for infants, just in case it starts to hurt before bed. The bottle has a chart like this:
Weight - - - - - - Age - - - - - - - Dose
24lbs under 2 years ask a doctor
24-35lbs 2-3 years 1.6mL (0.8+0.8mL)
I called her doctors office and i told them what the issue was and asked how much to give her. They put me on hold and then came back on the line and told me to give her 0.8mL and 0.8mL.... wouldnt that be a full dose for a 2-3 year old though? Confused, and afraid of calling back and annoying them... although if nobody can help me here i will call.

DS is 6 months and ped told us just to give him .8 ml.

I was always told to go by the weight of the child when giving Advil or Tylenol, not the age. Here is the dosage chart for Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Make sure you are giving the right dosage based on the medicine- ie. infant drops are concentrated so you give less, children's liquid is not concentrated so you would give more. HTH! Dosage Chart
ETA: Don't feel bad about calling them back! It's the doctor's job to help you with medicine dosing for your baby! If you are unsure of baby's weight, I would weigh her (weigh youself without the baby, then weigh yourself holding her and subtract) and then you will know what dosage she needs. I hope she feels better fast!

According to the chart I posted, 20 lbs you would give 1.2ml or 1 and 1/2 droppersful.

Your child's weight: 18 to 23 lbs
Dose: 120 mg
Infant drops: 1½ droppers (1.2 ml)
Children's liquid: 3/4 tsp
Children's chews or meltaways: 1 1/2

wow im an idiot. just looked at the chart everyone posted for me. it says to give her 1.2mL as far as the infant drops go. :)
