Birth announcements??
Is it worth it to send them out if everyone knows she was born!?!?! I'm not sure I should even bother. What did you do!?

Re: Birth announcements??
We sent them out for several reasons. The first is that we live OOS now and mostly invited local people, my mom's family and my ILs to my baby shower so it was an opportunity to tell those who were further away that DD is here. The second was so that we could give out our new address (we put it on the back with a second picture of the whole family). The third was because most of my family traditionally only buy gifts after the baby is born and we knew many of them were eager to (I honestly received more after DD was born than from my baby shower). The last was that my dad wanted us to send them to everyone he's ever gotten a baby announcement from and sent a gift to so that they would reciprocate lol.
If none of those reasons apply to you, you certainly don't have to.
My best friend had a baby about 5 weeks after I did and never sent out announcements. She did send out save the dates for her wedding (which will be in Sept) recently, though.

Re: Birth announcements??
i think it's really up to you...everyone knew Ollie was born and I didn't send out announcements until about 2 weeks ago because I had to wait 7 weeks for him to get out of the NICU and then go to his newborn shoot and then get the cd and then make and order the announcements lol which was a long process but i really wanted to send them out....we ended up doing magnets which everyone really liked because now everyone has pictures of him...hth

We sent them out. I love getting them!
eta: you don't have to spend a ton on them, either. I made mine on Snapfish and we got tons of compliments!

Re: Birth announcements??
we never sent them out for either child. everyone knew and saw her pro pics on Facebook. Plus we used lots of pics for the Christening invites, and we Baptized at 3 months for both girls.
