VBAC??
Hey ladies, My son is 1, and we will start TTC soon. I had an emergency C-Section, and would really like to try for a VBAC with my next baby, so Im starting to send out some feelers... Could you recommend your OB and/or midwife, if they really supported you and helped with your VBAC? Also, are there any hospitals that are more VBAC friendly? Im willing to start from scratch here! TIA!!

Re: VBAC??
My office (David Eysler, unfortunately my MW just moved OOS ) was open to it, but they really prepared me, since the first was b/c of size, that I would have to be early and the baby would have to be estimated at 7 pounds or under. I got growth sonograms starting from 30 weeks and by 37 he was measuring 10-8, so we had to go c/s. (he was 10-8)
This baby is measuring 50%, so I have a better chance. OB is still open to it, but he said I would have to come into the hospital in full blown labor before my due date.
I don't think he is a fully embraced VBAC OB, but he is open. He does say it has more to do with the hospital (I'm delivering at Plainview)

Re: VBAC??
Dr. Ninia and NP Cecilia Vanisky in Port Jeff Station were VERY open and even suggested a VBAC to me. It didn't work out once I had the sonogram and saw I was having twins though.
I went to St. Charles in Port Jefferson to deliver, but he also delivers at Stony Brook University.

Re: VBAC??
I have heard that Dr. Plancher and Melanie Sumersille (MW) are VBAC friendly- they are both in Garden City (same office).

Re: VBAC??
Thanks! I should have said I live in southern Nassau, so that area would be good. I delivered at South Nnassau and loved it, but would be willing to switch it up. Keep the recs coming please! Thank you!! Should I use a doula/midwife???

Re: VBAC??
Dale Cook is an awesome midwife in Huntington and totally VBAC supportive. If Huntington is too far, you might check out Susan Brockman in Malverne -- they work together -- their website is www.gaiamidwives.com.
Also, Stony Brook midwives are great and VBAC supportive -- they have an office in Islip.
There is a new Long Island ICAN chapter that you might want to contact, too for more support. Here's a link to them LI ICAN chapter .
Good luck!
