Feedback re: Weight Watchers

Okay, I would like some feedback re: Weight Watchers and/or any similar type of weight loss program.

I have gained so much weight in the year since I went back to work--almost 10 pounds! Some of this I attribute to poor food choices, lack of portion control, but most of all, I think lack of exercise is the big issue. Throughout my adult life, I have exercised regularly, and some of my eating habits have not been great, but it never mattered while I was working out often. Now, I can't exercise anymore, very rarely do I manage to squeeze it in--I'm generally on the go with work, Mom and house stuff from 6 am-10:30 at night most nights, and I am not getting up earlier or staying up later to exercise.

Sooo, my only other option is to try and control my eating better. What do people think of Weight Watchers? Are there other programs people would recommend? I am looking for something relatively easy and that is not composed of products per se, but will teach me more about proper eating and nutrition.

TIA!

Personally, I 've had success w/ it, I've lost 25+ lbs and kept it off going on 2 yrs.

I have my times where I go up and down-example, summer coming off and I've already slacked but it teaches you portion control and making better choices.

It seems like many on this site have also had success w/ it.

Good luck!

I'm a huge fan of Weight Watchers. I lost 60lbs on the plan!! It's not so much a diet as it is a lifestyle change. It's very liveable.

Thank you both for your feedback! A lifestyle change is exactly what I need. I am beginning to realize I have had bad food habits for awhile, but when I was more active (and younger) I got away with it.

Could not agree more! I'm down 62lbs and have learned to eat right AND still enjoy myself.
I do not look at it as a diet at all.

I didn't have success on WW, but I think I'm a rare case. I tried WW a couple times, just wasn't for me. IDK why. It works for almost everyone. But me. I have always done better with Body for Life and tracking my calories and intake of protein/carbs/fats, making sure it's balanced.

Same for me. I wont say I didnt have ANY success...I lost 5lbs the first 2 weeks. But then after that I kept losing and gaining back the same 5lbs (which I'm pretty sure was water weight anyway). I followed the plan to a T and didnt go over my points. I rarely even dipped into my weekly points. I'm not really sure why it didnt work for me, but it didnt.

However, I may be a weird case because even with excersizing I wasnt losing weight...I was actually gaining. So, I'm not quite sure what's going on with my body Chat Icon

Re: Feedback re: Weight Watchers

I lost over 100 lbs with the help of ww. I do have to say that i was really strict. I have my feelings both for and against. It definately helps with portion control, but for the most part, ww just lets you eat whatever u want but less of it. Its changed in the last two years though and they are trying to help people make smarter healthier choices. Really, eating healthy, measure your portions and exercise...thats what does it. Eliminating the bad habits is the key.

Re: Feedback re: Weight Watchers

Another WW supporter here. I have lost 82 pounds in the last year and a half. I lost most of it within the first year and over the last 6 months I've been slowly losing and toning. I also lost the first 40 pounds without really exercising. I would do some walks, wii fit, and 30 day shred but I only did it a few times a week. Now I exercise 6-7 days a week. While I still need to lose about 12 pounds I am fit and in shape. I have my trouble areas and am working on them. But I am healthy and I feel amazing. I just ran my first 5K last month.

So I highly recommend WW. As some previous posters said it's a lifestyle change not a diet. I have learned how to eat healthy and I do not feel like I am missing out on anything at all. It's all about making choices.
