I don't understand people

Is anyone responsible and reliable anymore?

My dh has been looking for a job. He gets an email if he is still interested in something he applied for. He emails back what was the job because if anyone knows, people looking for jobs know are emailing and sending TONS of resumes PER day. They guy emails back what the job it. My dh emails back, yes, I am interested can you please let me know the hours and pay. Nothing. So my dh calls the business and leaves a message. The guy finally calls him back. Says he wants to meet with him to discuss the job. No problem. Tells him a time and place AND I will call you. No problem. The time comes and goes and we waste an entire day not going out because we weren't sure if he was going to call. Nothing all day. My dh leaves a message saying we were supposed to meet..Nothing.
2 days later think the SAME job comes back online.
What is the deal??? I am truly losing trust in people.

Re: I don't understand people

Do he told your DH a time and a place and just because he didn't call, your DH didn't go?

I would have gone anyway, thinking he forgot to call. Seems like that is why your DH lost the opportunity - the employer thought HE was irresponsible and unreliable.

Yeah Have to agree with this? Why didn't DH go to the meeting place at the time stated?

He asked him to meet him at a public location (store) but did not tell him what type of car he was driving or asked my dh what type of car he was driving either.

He would have gone but he said at the end of the call, ok, I will call you tomorrow. He never did and then my dh did call his number and left a message a little bit after when they were supposed to meet in case he forgot.

Again, he didn't say I will definately meet you. He asked him if he knew where it was and then said I will call you tomorrow then. Never said go there, I will be in this car or meet you in the front, etc.

Very. You say you will meet. Then say ok, I will call you tomorrow. No info on what you even look like.
Not sure if he was to go there and just stand there outside like a dope, looking like he was loitering-lol.

Re: I don't understand people

Could he have put him off by asking salary up front? Usually that is part of the negotiations after you have been offered the position.

I know a lot of potential employers who would be put off by that being the first question asked.

He must not have been put off as he did call him even after he asked him in the email. He sounded like he was interested in hiring him and wanted to set up something to meet in person but then told him, I will call you tomorrow. Not sure why he couldn't just say after they picked a meeting place what he looked like or what his car looked like or where he could meet (in the front of the store, etc.).

the whole thing is weird, but my point was, it sounds like he may not have felt your DH was a good fit for whatever reason....and maybe he just had poor professional people skills and didnt know how to let him down properly....kwim?

Either way, maybe it is just as well bc the guy sounds a little flaky.

What does your DH do, maybe someone here will know of something?

Yeah, it is really weird. Not sure why he even bothered to call him if he wasn't interested in meeting him and if by the phone call he didn't want to go through it (my dh thought maybe his age was the reason). They never talked about anything else but prior experience and age. At that point the guy really should have said..thanks but I was looking for this or that instead of stringing him along, telling him where they could meet and that he would call him back the next day to finish the plans.

At this point, my dh is looking for anything that is fulltime and stable and steady year round work. His last job he was a warehouse manager.

Thanks so much Chat Icon

Re: I don't understand people

I talked to dh last night about what everyone said and he said the same thing. How would he even know WHO he was looking for there? The guy didn't give any indication of what type of car he was driving, what he was wearing or what he looked like-lol.
If the guy DID show up, wouldn't he have called my dh and say, are you here, what car are in you?-lol!!
