I got the little lamb bouncer seat. I have so much crap though that I really don't know if it's something that I'll "need". What I like about the bouncer seat though (as opposed to the swing) is that you can move it around easily with you...like bring it to your bedroom or bathroom when you are showering. I think that swing is heavy.

We loved the bouner. Used it more than the swing. He'd make himself bounce to get the jungle animals to move and play music.

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

I don't have a fancy swing -- just a small portable type of swing -- and DD doesn't really love the swing. But her bouncy seat is what she spends tons of time in. When I'm doing the dishes, I carry it into the kitchen and put her on the floor next to me -- same with when I'm cooking dinner. Usually I put her in her "bed" (the FP newborn rock n play sleeper) when I'm in the shower, but sometimes she's in the bouncy seat.

I have this one (FP cocoa sorbet) and it was way cheaper than those other ones (it's usually like $40 but I got it for $25 with coupons and a discount) and it's been perfect for her so far. She's 5 months now and she's still in it every day. I don't know how much longer, though, because she kinda tries to pull/turn over in it. Maybe another month or two.

Pic is from a few months ago, but you get the idea:

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

Every baby is different...I think you might want to have a bouncer on hand in case your little one doesn't like the swing. I'd also recommend exchanging the little lamb swing for the little bunny swing, its $10 more but can run on batteries or be plugged into the wall...if your little one likes it then you wont be constantly buying batteries.

I didnt think I'd need both and only had a bouncer and so far she doesn't like it. After 2 weeks of a crying baby we went and bought a swing and its amazing - she loves it - naps in it and just likes chilling in it.

Isn't there a swing that changes into a bouncer? Look into that!

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

We got a bouncer and a swing. Some babies prefer one over the other. And if ours likes both, I can rotate him or her between them so he/she is not int he same thign all the time. I figure variety is good.

They definitely have swing/bouncer combos.. I registered for this one because it matches the pack&play & highchair I picked, but I know there were others too. I saw some at BBB too

Ditto. DD was not a swing lover, but she lived in her bouncer. She's 6.5 months and I'm just retiring it now!

*Question - do you think if you had a fancier swing she would like it better? I'm trying to decide between the small portable ones or the larger ones. Thanks Chat Icon

We got a swing and an exersaucer, but no bouncer. I didn't think we would need it, but can always decide to get it later.

Yes, actually I do think she might have liked a fancier swing when she was younger.

My baby is weird though - motion doesn't help her sleep. She's like the only baby in the world who doesn't get lulled to sleep riding in the car. But she likes to be rocked a little in the FP nb rocker. She also tolerates the bouncy seat vibration sometimes too.

Oh, and thank you to the poster who liked my DD's pic. Chat Icon she is already so much bigger but still smiles constantly!

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

Here's my experience. We have a junior 4 apartment (larger than a 1 bedroom). Not much space. I had:

Big swing
Bouncer
Rock N Play Sleeper (MUST get)
Small travel swing (in bedroom)

Plus an exercauser, bumbo, etc.

We used it all. Some babies like one motion over another. Some like to have variety. The one thing we could have probably done though - is to just have the small travel swing since he was fine with either one, and the small travel swing folded small.

If you keep the big swing, pllllllllease change to one that plugs in. The batteries get eaten SO quickly and they're very pricey. Get one that plugs in, you'll thank me Chat Icon

If I had to do it over, I'd still get a swing, a bouncer, and the rock n play sleeper.

All babies are different, but mine loves the bouncy and isn't a huge fan of the swing, while she's awake that is. During the day she naps in the swing. She loves it for that, but isn't content in it awake. The bouncy seat she will sit in peacefully for a good hour if we let her. I would get both since you wont know what LO will like till she's here!

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

i wasnt planning on getting a bouncer but my BTDT mom friends recommended i do.
their reasoning was that its light weight and portable and so easy to use. they said there would be times they'd be eating dinner and have it on the table with LO in it. i think its a nice piece of gear for you to put the baby down in and they are usually cheap.
i forget the brand i have but its a from and it was like $35

I was looking at the little lamb seat but the reviews said it didnt actually bounce? that it just vibrated? is that true?

That is true- it vibrates but doesn't bounce. My DD loved it though - she slept in it for the first 2 months of her life! I got a separate bouncy seat which she also loved to eat in and just bounce and be safe and occupied while I showered and stuff.

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

For us, the bouncer was and is a must have!!! DD slept in it for the first month and the vibrations helped soothe her.

Now, she bounces and plays with the animals and I also use it to feed her.

Re: Do I need a bouncer as well?

Maybe wait until baby is here to decide if its needed. My son hates his swing (its the same swing I used for my daughter and she loved it). So every baby is different. I ended up buying a cheap $20 bouncer from Walmart(didn't want to spend more in case he hated it) and my son loves it!
