If you could get nothing else, I would get these two things. Priceless IMO.

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

Yes you need both IMO too. If I had to choose 1, a bouncer. But both have been a blessing all 3 times.

Megan liked her bouncer more when she was smaller. Now that shes almost 4 months, she seems to like her swing better. So in the long run, I guess having both is a good idea. Chat Icon

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

Yessssssss register for both!! I used both all the time when Katie was younger. Some days she would want the swing and other days she'd like the bouncy seat. Also highly recommend getting a walker for her - the little $29.99 model. Its the only one BRU has on wheelse I think. Katie loooves that thing. It's a God send now that she is sitting up on her own and doesn't want to be confined.

Oh - Donna, I don't know how much space you have but we were somewhat limited with space so I registered for the travel swing instead of the full sized one and it saved a LOT of room.

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

We definitely use both. The swing is to soothe the baby, the bouncer is to keep them active, learning how to use their legs, and hands. Very different purposes, but both very important.

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

not at all...the bouncy seat is great if you want to take a shower. It's more portable.

you can also put it on a table while you eat (not supposed to...but we do it) or next to your chair.

I prefer a full size swing, DD never seemed to sit properly in the travel ones

Yes! Both have been a lifesaver...at times she was sick of the swing and bouncy ruled...and vice versa....both are equally important

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

I think they both do very different things and have been lifesavers for us at different stages. The swing allowed for us to get 5-6 hours of sleep when we desperately needed it around 3 weeks after she was born. She slept in it every night for about two weeks! Same with the bouncy seat. She would sleep in it in her crib when her reflux was bad. I even bought the Fisher Price Infant/Toddler seat when she outgrew her original seat because it's that useful!
We no longer use the swing, but at 6 months she sits in the rocker while I give her her bottle or while she watches a dvd.

we had both and Aidan hated them both! Chat Icon Unfortunately, never got much use out of either.

He preferred to hang in his carseat or playmat until he could sit in the exersaucer around 4 months.

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

I agree, however DD only used the swing for a couple of weeks to sleep in, then she wanted nothing to do with it. Every child is different but I would go for both.

We never used the swing, he hated it from day one. The bouncer is invaluable though

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

I think it depends on your child. We had both, but Nate hated the bouncer. He cried everytime we put him in it. Ended up returning it for a credit at BRU.

Re: Do you need/use a swing AND a bouncer?

Luca has gone in the swing since he was a week old but never liked the bouncer. He's almost 8 weeks and spent 20 happy minutes in the bouncer yesterday, so I would say register for both.
