How to reduce your sodium intake

I was tracking my food intake today and all I have eaten so far today was breakfast & lunch and I already consumed about 1400 grams of sodium.

Breakfast was a whole wheat sandwich round, 2 egg whites and 1 slice of low salt turkey breast.

Lunch was a salald, lettuce, shredded carrots and 1/2 cup of the chicken shortcuts.

Doesn't that seem obsessive in the sodium? I know that the chicken shortcuts probably have a lot of salt what should I substitute for the chicken?

Re: How to reduce your sodium intake

I've been tracking my food on myfitnesspal and it says that my goal for the day, as far as sodium, is 2500mg. In the past week I've averaged from 1500 to 2100mg. It does sound high, but I guess that's average!

1500-2000 is a average and you shouldn't consume any more than that. There is sodium in everything so its tough sometimes.

Did you put dressing on your salad? Dressing is usually high in sodium. You have to watch. Even the fat free versions still have sodium.
