Mom's on #2 or more...

Am I the only one that is re-using DC#1's nursery?? I'm just venting b/c everyone asks me about DC #2's nursery...is it done yet, when are you re-painting it...ect. DC#1 is 20 mos old, we are just moving him into his big boy room and DC#2 will go into the nursery, I feel like everyone is so shocked to hear that I'm not RE-doing it. eta: I'm team Chat Icon for both pregnancies.

We are redoing a room for Chat Icon #2, but only because DD (3) is already in her "big girl room". If her room decor was too babyish then I would totally put the new baby in it.

We are also team Chat Icon and were with DD#1 but I didn't do a nuetral room. I just picked out the bedding and bought it after I had her. I purposely picked out a decor that she could have for years so I wouldn't have to redo it.

We're reusing too! Our son will be 22 months when the baby comes, so he will be moving into a different room, with a more "big boy" theme, and the baby will just go right into the already set-up and designed nursery. It seemed to make sense since they will be so close in age. We are also team Chat Icon for both.

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

we are reusing the nursery - DD#1 moved into a big girl room and DD#2 will go into the nursery when she gets here. We had purposely picked a border that had both pink and blue in it and would mean that if DC#2 was a boy, a quick paint job would be all we needed to change. But DC#2 is Chat Icon so its an easy move. I havn't gotten any pressure to "redo" it.

We are even worse! DC#2 is staying with us in a crib in our room and then sharing with 4 yo DC.

Don't feel pressure to change anything....

Chat Icon even better... they're going in the same room. We got a toddler bed for DS1, DS2 is getting the crib. I didn't even move the bedding over. Chat Icon

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

we are redoing DS nursery for this one - however, I never really loved his nursery - we just settled bc we couldnt decide and needed to get it done. Plus I am a compulsive redecorator - hell, Ive redone our MBR 3 times in the 5 years we have lived here.

I dont have the time, money or patience to re-do the nursery. Chat Icon room was mint green & beige. I'm now having a Chat Icon and adding some pink accents to girly it up a bit. I purchased a gender neutral set for that reason. VERY glad I did!

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

we are not re-doing either and they will share the room once the baby is out of the bassinette. If this baby is a boy, I will get some new bedding for the crib because DD's is pink and girly but thats about all I am going to do regarding decor. Nobody has said anything about our plan and I wouldnt expect them too. Nothing I can do anyway, they have no choice but to share at this point!

hopefully we will be in a new house by the time #2 gets here so we will have to do both rooms but if we were to stay here baby #2 was to inherit dc's nursery.. my DCs will be about the same age difference as yours, are you keeping dc #1 in a crib or moving to a toddler bed? That is my dilemma on whether or not to buy another crib.

Me too: it's why I did it gender neutral!
DS spends no time up there & another crib will be a waste.. he'll be 19-20 months by the time we use a crib with #2 & I'lll just move him to a toddler bed.

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

I am kind of re-using it. We moved DS into a different "big boy" room and the nursery will remain in the same room, same paint color. But I am changing out the curtains and bedding and adding some pink accents since this one is a Chat Icon

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

This is what we did. We moved my first DS to his big boy room. And my sencond DS (we were Chat Icon ) has the nursery. I was going to get new bedding but decided I liked what I had so we just replaced the bumpers b/c my first ds had them in his crib for 2.5 years so I had thrown them out.

Otherwise DS#2's room looks the SAME exact way (down to what is on the walls even) as it did when DS#1 was a baby!

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

My son is using the same nursery that our second had. I was only going to change bedding if it was a girl but we weren't repainting no matter what so no you are not alone.

Well the plan is that once the baby leaves our room (bassinet) at about 4 months, I will transition DS out of the crib to a twin bed we have in his "big boy room"...(by than he will be 2 yrs old) I really don't want to buy another crib, I have NO space for it either....

we're doing the same as you. Making my son his big boy room and putting #2 right into his nursery and not changing a thing.

We moved DS to a big boy bed at 2. We re-used all of his furniture. And in the fall we will be handing it down in awesome condition to my BIL for his first child.

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

Charlie is staying in her room (it is the larger of the 2 bedrooms) and we are repainting it as well. Baby #2 is going into the smaller room with all of Charlie's furniture, bedding, etc. I don't see anything wrong with recycling Chat Icon

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

WE didn't even have a nursery fro #2. She slept in our room for the first 12 months. WE turned DD's huge bedroom into 2 rooms. WE used DD #1 crib for the babys crib. DD #2 was sleeping in her big girl bed before the baby got here.

Re: Mom's on #2 or more...

We transitioned Chat Icon into his big boy room which has been his playroom since we moved into the house last year. We purposely did a gender neutral nursery so we could reuse it. Now Chat Icon will be in the nursery and we got a new dresser in white, new wall art and a new rug all with pink accents. The only reason we got these new things is because we moved those things from the nursery into Chat Icon big boy room. No waste!!

We're toally re-using. I'm having another DS and DS#1 is moving into the bigger room and a big boy bed. I don't know why people would be shocked.
