NYC Teachers Who Know About Excessing
Does anyone know of anyone who was excessed, hasn't found another position and/or has been on interviews to schools they aren't interested in and have been sitting for 1-2 years doing "easy" stuff?
ETA:Someone told me you can do this...
Insight?

Re: NYC Teachers Who Know About Excessing
This was common a few years ago-- ATR's who couldn't find a position would just act as subs & not have a regular schedule. I consider that "easy" comparatively (even though they still have to deal with the kids all day) since they didn't have to do any planning or bring home any work.
Now with them supposedly tightening the budget, they are going to be trying to get all the ATR's placed back into regular positions, so I don't think that will be as common anymore.

I also think that as part of our union negotiations/concessions to avoid layoffs, ATRs without full time positions will be mandated to do sub work. Although I'm not 100% sure of that.

ATR's are utilized to the fullest now a days as subs and such. Those days are long over, at least from what I have seen.
