Bridesmaid dress
I'm in my cousins wedding in February and will be 35 weeks PG. I have to order the dress by the end of the month and have no idea what size I'll need. Normally I'd get a bridesmaid dress in an 8. Any suggestions from those who have been in a similar situation? I was thinking to just get a 16 but don't know if it will be big enough for a belly.

Re: Bridesmaid dress
lurking as usual... I was a pregnant bridesmaid last year and just asked the store what they suggested. They are used to dealing with this kind of thing all the time!! Good luck!!

Re: Bridesmaid dress
tough one... I ordered a dress in an 8, got preggo, couldnt change it so they had to ship me extra fabric. Im not sure if you should just order the extra fabric just incase. Also, ask if the dress comes in Maternity. Some of them do.

Re: Bridesmaid dress
I am due mid December and I am in a wedding November 11th...I went and got measured when I was 4 months..I am typically a 4-6....i was measuring an 8 at that time and they will be ordering a 12. I also have to get extra fabric so they can expand the second layer to fit my stomach.
(The dress has a sheer layer on top, and then satin layer underneath).
It really is going to depend on the style of the dress. Most dress places are used to dealing with this. Best bet is to go bigger ...since you can always alterate it!
For my wedding last year, my girls wore a satin dress, fitted at the stomach with rouching (spelling??). My cousin was 8 months pregnant...they ordered her the largest size due to the style of the dress in order to fit her stomach. They had to alter it around her bust and waist...but luckily they ordered large because the belly didnt fit they day of the wedding, they had to let it out again!
Good luck...hope this helps!

Re: Bridesmaid dress
I was just in a wedding party (at 24 weeks) and when we picked out dresses I was to be pregnant soon. I told the girls who worked there and they said to order 6 sizes larger than I was --that's how much they can take in without ruining the shape of the dress. I'd ask the girls/seamstress what they think --they were right on the money for me. One other thing, depending on your height you might need to order the "tall" version for extra length. My dress was a *little* too short in front because of my belly!

Re: Bridesmaid dress
I am going to (hopefully) be a bridesmaid at 40 wks. LOL. I am due Sept 22 and the wedding is the 23. I am normally a size 6 or 8, and the store ordered a size 20 for me. I thought 16 or 18 would suffice, but they thought bigger. I will have to get the bust taken in, but they said I needed to have the bigger size for the belly. Good luck!

I am also I thought I was the only one lol. I ordered a size 16 and they ordered extra length and I am short (5'1). I am not going to go for alterations until about 2 weeks before the wedding because I don't want to take a chance with sizing and then there's always a chance the baby might come early.

Re: Bridesmaid dress
I'm a bm in a wedding Oct 28- precisely one month before my due date. When I ordered my dress 2 weeks ago, they measured me and the guessed at a siza, and increased it by one size 'just in case'. You can always take it in, out- not so much. The ppl at the bridal store should be able to help, they've def had this issue before. Best of luck!
