Anyone use Quest for their children's lab work?
They seem to have an option to click off on the website that shows labs with pediatric specilaists but I am not 100% sure.
I have used Quest for myself and I don't think they are that great- they seem like a factory in a way.
I am a wreck about DD's 1 year blood work- keep putting it off- and even thinking of skipping it -that is how much anxiety I have over this.
Has anyone used Quest for their LO's? How was it?

Re: Anyone use Quest for their children's lab work?
I did. I hate to say this but it was not a good experience. Ugh, the first tech couldn't find DD's vein and had the needle poking around inside her arm trying to find it while she was going ballistic (my DH was using all his strength to hold her). It was awful. She had to go get a second tech who got it right away though so once she did, it was over quick.
I think it all depends on the person you get and how skilled they are really. It's never a fun experience I guess so the faster they can do it, the better!
P.S. I did have bloodwork done for her when she was around 3 months at Quest and it went great so I guess it all depends on the day.

I felt the same about DDs bloodwork and put it off for a few months. I took her to Quest i Sayville and they did a great job.

I took DS to Quest and had a good experience.
There is a box to check off a child. They had two phlebotomists tending to him - one holding his arm and one drawing the blood while I held him.

Is this the one next to the Bakery in the little white strip mall? West Sayville?

Re: Anyone use Quest for their children's lab work?
I've mostly used West Sayville and they've been fine. Although the last time I took my 2 yr old they stabbed him 3 times in 1 arm and couldn't find a vein. I finally insisted they switch arms and get a new girl. The other girl came in and got it first shot. The little spanish lady is the one that messed up. There is a taller, older woman that is excellent there.

I took DS to Quest in Massapequa Park twice for blood work. He screamed bloody murder, but it was over very quickly. They showed me how to hold him so he couldn't squirm away.

I've taken my daughter to Quest in glen cove twice for blood work and both times were amazing. She barely even cried. Both of the women that I've had have done such a wonderful job!

Re: Anyone use Quest for their children's lab work?
I just used the Quest in West Babylon for my DD's 1-year bloodwork. It was an okay experience - the first tech had trouble finding her veins, but the second tech got right in, and it was over super fast. I've used them before for my DS as well, and never had any problems.

It's good to hear- I just wanted to make sure they have someone who deals with babies specifically.
It just seems so traumatic to me!

Re: Anyone use Quest for their children's lab work?
I don't use Quest, but wanted to share my story because I just went through this last week. I didn't know they drew blood from the arm until I got there. I almost threw up when I found out.
The nurse had me hold DD on my lap and then hold her arm out. I was waiting for DD to go nuts, but she didn't budge the entire time, not even when the needle went in. I was FLOORED!!
Your DC may surprise you too. Try not to sweat it. Best of luck.
