Mommy and Me type preschool prep?
A friend of mine takes her DS to a Mommy and Me class that prepares her 2.5 year old for preschool. I think it starts with the moms and by the last couple of weeks its a drop-off/pick-up type thing. It would be perfect for my son but its too far for me.
Has anyone done this with their DC?
Do you know of a program similar in north shore Nassau?
TIA!

Re: Mommy and Me type preschool prep?
I have my DD who will be 2.5 next month enrolled in a Slow-Separation program at Kiddie Junction in Levittown starting in October. What I loved the most was that they offered a saturday morning class so that I could actually take DD to it (I work FT). Check them out - I was impressed with the school and loved the whole "slow separation" idea!!

Yes, definitely recommend this! My older DD started when she turned 2 and we stayed for the full "school year" and the last couple of months were partial separation. I met a great group of women and four years later, we still get together all the time! My younger DD also went and I plan to go with my DS when the time comes...
The one I went to was in Manhasset and I know they also have a location in Bayside among others...

Re: Mommy and Me type preschool prep?
I did with DD started at 18 mos and for the first 8 weeks it was a mommy and me and then the rest of the school year a pre school type setting, it was the best thing we ever did!!! My mom was sooooo against it and just the other day she said you know that she was completely wrong that it was the best thing I ever did!!! I did it at the Merrick JCC don't know about North shore!!

Re: Mommy and Me type preschool prep?
I did the slow separation class at Kiddie Junction with DD. She had just turned 2 yrs. I think the class is 1 1/2 hrs/ 1 a week. It starts off with the moms being in the room for the whole time (but they ask the moms to not participate unless your child really needs you to) and then each class the parents are asked to leave for a longer and longer period of time a long as your child is doing well with the separation. For my DD's class after 4 classes we were just doing drop offs and the moms were able to leave the building. Its a great program.

We had looked into this program as well but my ILs didn't want to drive that far. I have heard nothing but good things about Kiddie Junction.

Re: Mommy and Me type preschool prep?
There are several in Garden City - sorry not North Shore - they are either mommy and me 2 year programs where you and your DC go once a week to the preschool. There are also some slow separation courses - you got with them for the 1st say 10 weeks in the fall or so - then you slowly separate and they go alone in the spring.
FM me if you are interested and I can pass the info - the only thing is that they fill quickly so not sure if there would be spots available

I second Just Wee Two! DId it with DS (although I never did the separation class). And, about to start with DD.
