Daily runners- ? for you
How long (distance and time) do you run every day?
I want to start working a daily run into my regimen but I don't want to overdo it since I'll be teaching aerobics in the evenings as well.
I'm doing this for weight loss as well, not just maintenance if that makes a difference. TIA!

This depends on a lot of different factors. Are you running at all now?

Not at the moment but i know i can run 5 miles comfortably right now without having run for a bit...I'm a turtle though- i tend to average around 10 min miles when I do run

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I ran 4-5 days a week...most days about 4 miles and then one longer run. I have no cut back running to incorporate more strength training so 2 days a week I do 20-30 minuts of intervals, 1 day is a longer run about 5 miles, and then one shorter run, usually 3 miles 1 day a week

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
4-5 times a week for 3-4 miles and one of those days is a long day since I'm training for a half. I'm up to 7 miles and will keep increasing.

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
I run 3-4 days a week. I run anywhere from 3-6.5 miles each time. I am training for a half marathon so am working that 6.5 mile run up to 13 miles.

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
I run based on a training schedule. I do 3-4 mile runs 2x a week, one of those is speed training and one is active recovery, and a long run of 8-10 miles on Saturdays.

I run 3-5 times a week, 3-5 miles each time. If I am training for a half marathon, one of my runs is longer (6-12 miles).

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
Since you are just starting off, I suggest you start slowly increasing your mileage. Run 30 minutes 3-4x a week (which for you will be about 9-12 miles a week). From there you can increase your weekly mileage by 10% each week when you feel confident enough to do that. Do not increase more than 10% per week as that leads to over training and injury. You should not base your running schedule off of what other people are doing since we are all at different stages of our running journey.

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
disclaimer: I'm pregnant right now, so this info is when I'm not.
I usually run 5-6 days/week and minimum 5 miles (~45 min). (with the exception of speed workouts - the distance is sometimes less than 5 miles if I'm only doing 400 repeats) but now that it will be about 3 months since I ran (after recovery) I'm starting with 2-3 mile runs and a 45 minute long run

Re: Daily runners- ? for you
I only run about 4 times a week, anywhere from 3-6.5 miles. But I max out at 10Ks for races so I don't really ever run any further.
Last year I was running a lot around this time and wound up with a stress fracture in my ankle, so this year I am trying to replace one of my workouts (or instead of adding a 5th) per week with a gym session/elliptical so I can get the cardio benefit without the impact on my ankle.
