Our son received a lot of dresses...
so we got quite a few onezie type things that are called "gowns" ( they have no snaps around the crottch area they are like a dress)
Are these good for newborns to sleep in? Should I return them or keep a cple and see if we like them?? TY

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
Are they the kind with elastic toward the bottom?
I'd use them as pj's. They're great for overnight diaper changes. We used them for DD for the first few months and hoping to use them with #2

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
ive never used any of my sleep gowns for DD. i swaddle her with a regular blanket and she wears sleep 'n plays or PJs with feet or socks to bed. i find them particularly useless if you plan to sleep baby in the rock n play or anything that has a harness, since you'd have to either pull up the gown to put on the harness or pull the harness over the gown which would ride it up anyway.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
They're PJs. Some people love them b/c they make changing a diaper quick & easy but I didn't use ours a lot. I wouldn't keep a ton but a few.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
I have a boy and we LOVE ours. He wears them to bed. He hated being swaddled, and we didn't want to put him in feetie pajamas with the weather being so warm. So he wears these and a pair of socks to bed. Makes diaper changes at 3 a.m. very easy!

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
I LOVEEEEE these! DS#1 had a few, but this time around I stocked up on them! Like others have said they make diaper changes in the middle of the night so much easier. I only use them for PJ's and usually put a swaddle or sleep sack over it.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
Good to know TY ladies. I have a bunch 0-3 month, would you recommend trading some in for 6-9 month or are they too old for them at that point?

Me too. Tried them 2 nights. Her feet kept getting pushed out and tangled. Like my PJ's and swadle much better.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
I had them and hated them. I think that their feet get cold in them, or at least my kids did. I would not get them in a bigger size as they kick more and are more mobile then.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
We loved them! So great in the middle of the night to just have to pull it up to change diaper rather than unbuttoning or zippering. I liked to keep as much in a sleep state as I could and that was the least shocking to her. If we have a boy second time around, I'll absolutely use them! We only used them for first two or three months. Oh, and we swaddled too and don't think that changes anything. You have to take the swaddle off to change them regardless of the type of pj's they wear.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
I used and loves these!!! My DH wasn't feeling these when I showed them to him.
However, after that first night that he had to do a diaper change and all he needed to do was pull the gown up and back down, he was convinced on how great they are.
I would keep some.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
We used them for boht DS in the early days for over nights. Great to change, and if you are BF makes skin to skin contact easy. I liked them to use for the first 2 weeks or so.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
Keep them! I have 6 or 7 and that's all DS sleeps in. It's so easy to change his diaper quickly and without disturbing him too much if he's sleepy and milk drunk after a feeding, ESPECIALLY at night! He barely wore anything else during his first 2 weeks of life.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
some people love them and some hate them. my advice to you would be keep them with tags on. take your favorite one, wash it and try it out. if you like em you keep em, if not you return em.
i only got one of these.. and we tried it once, but it was seriously TOO large for her. size 0 to 9 months... so it really wasn't a good attempt. i decided to revisit when it fits her a little better.
I use sleep sacs with the zipper and closed at the bottom instead.
PS- we are talking about the ones with the elastic band at the bottom right? it's like open and then just a band.
they are kinda like sweet pea from popeye haha!
my SIL has a boy and 2 girls, she used em for all of her kids.

Same here. I always felt that DS was cold and they were cumbersome to manuever. It's all personal preference. Try them out and see if you like them.

Re: Our son received a lot of dresses...
I don't know why, I never used them. I'm sure they'd be great for overnight diaper changes, but we never changed DS in the night. Always just wore zipper sleep and plays to bed.
