Question about diapers and formula.....
Does anyone have any idea what brand of formula or diapers they are going to use? If you do what made you choose this brand? I feel like I am clueless. I heard good things about pampers swaddlers but I am so confused.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I know that nothing will be definite until LO confirms that he or she likes it, but...
we're starting with Pampers Swaddlers...I've really only heard good things, figure it's the safest bet to start with...
and as for formula, we're starting with GoodStart...this was because of rec's from family member's as well as doing our own research...we are not BFing, and I've heard and read that GoodStart is the closest to breastmilk among formulas...I have family that had trouble with Enfamil, others who had trouble with Similac...so we'll try GoodStart
again, who knows what will decide, because ultimately it will be up to them LOL but that's the plan!!! :)

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
Yea it would be nice to at least have a plan even if it doesnt work!! I plan on pumping and supplementing with formula so it is good to know that Good Start is supposed to be the closest to breats milk....I will have to look into this. Do you plan on bringing your own formula to the hospital with you?

that's a good question!!! since I'm sure they will want to feed LO with whatever they have...I will ask my Dr at my next appt on Monday if they think I should do that if I plan on feeding diff from the hospital...thanks for asking that cuz I would have never thought of that!!!

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
We had some diapers from the shower as well the hospital sent us home with so many. The hospital gave us a lot of Pampers Swaddler while at the shower I got some Huggies. I've used both and don't have a huge preference - they have both worked just fine.
As for the formula, I tried to BF in the hospital but wasn't getting much. The hospital gave Similac Advance in nursettes to supplement and my DD has been on it ever since. She has never had any reflux or issues with it so I figured I might as well keep using it and at almost 3 mos, she's still doing well.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I have been using pampers swaddlers from the beginning with my dd. Formula you really dont know what you are going to be using. We had to switch formula at 6 weeks due to my dd having a milk protein allergy.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I'll be buying the Pampers swaddlers again and a container of Nestle Good Start Gentle Plus. Emmy did well on that and I always had great coupons. I am hoping to ebf, but if baby doesn't latch i'm NOT ep again and we'll just ff after he gets some colostrum. I really like Pampers over the Huggies, but i'm having a boy so the preference may change. I have heard some prefer different brands for the gender of the baby.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
Its all trial and error.. I tried different types of Diapers till I settled on one brand. I can't help you with formula because I breastfed but I know some friends of mine had to switch around with that too to find ones that didn't cause belly upsets.. I wouldn't by large quantities yet of anything but i'd send away now for free samples of different brands.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
its totally trial and error but I will start with whatever formula the hospital uses and then buy the "generic" target/walmart version of that.
Then diapers, probably pampers swaddlers for first 2 months, then switch to generic target brand.
But, I'm basing it all on what worked for my 1st, could be totally different 2nd time around.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
Formula and diapers I used what the hospital used. DS was supplementing BM with Similac Advanced. Also, Pampers Swaddlers were the diapers. I never changed the formula until DS starting have reflux and went to Similac Sensitive. I changed the Swaddlers after he was out of those and went to Luvs. I had heard from my SIL that Luvs were great for boys (and far cheaper).

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I'm going to start off DS#2 with what we did for DS#1.
Similac Advanced and Papmers Sensitive Diapers. We'll see how it goes from there.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I don't know about other hospitals but Winthrop has a list of local pediaticians and the formula they recommend. We had no idea what to use but our peds suggested Enfamil so we went with that. You don't want to make switches with formula cuz it can upset the babys tummy. You might want to check with a ped if you have one or see what the hospital keeps there as they usually supply it... Not sure if Zgood Start is one they usually have. Hope this helps! Diapers can be switched more easily than formula...

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
i think pampers swaddlers is what i'll start with. ive heard good things. and probably 7th generation wipes bc they dont have cholorine or any harsh chemicals. im going to try to bf, but in case i need a backup of formula, i think i will just ask the hospital or my pediatritian.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
I bought some Pampers on sale and received a bunch of Pampers at my shower--so I will be using those...hope they work well
I plan on BFing but did recieve a case of Infamil for free so if we need to supplement for any reason we will use that.

Re: Question about diapers and formula.....
Diapers: I have read/heard mixed reviews about all brands. I have found people who love/hate every brand. Since Luvs is the cheapest (esp. at BJ's) we decided to start there and see if they work for DD. We had a good coupon at BJ's, so we decided to buy a box. If they don't work well we will go from there.
Formula: From what I've read/personal reviews I am leaning towards Enfamil. However, I will ultimately see what the pediatrician reccommends and go from there if breastfeeding doesn't work out for me.
