Question for moms who use formula (newborn question)

DD is 11 weeks old. I am transitioning to all formula from breastmilk and supplementing with formula.

DD would eat every 3 hours like clockwork on BM and can go a little longer on formula.

How many hours does your DC go between bottles and how many ounces do they eat? We just increased from 4oz to 5oz in the last week.

TIA

DS is 13.5 weeks. He still eats every 3 hours. Since giving him cereal in the AM & PM, we've stretched him out and decreased the total amount of formula from 42 to 36ish. (PED all ok with this by the way).

So now he eats 6 6oz bottles (really 7oz of water to 3 scoops of forumla).

Alexa is also 11 weeks too and get's anywhere from 6-7 oz every 4-5 hrs. At night she gets her last bottle between 9-10pm and then wakes around 7am.

Thanks..

This is the issue I'm having. Okay, so not really an issue perse...

DD is going longer between feedings on the formula When she was on BM, her last BM bottle was at 6ish, which would make her bedtime bottle at 9. She'd eat, go to bed and sleep until 7am-ish.

Now, she still gets a bottle around 6ish (when she wakes up from her afternoon nap). Which means the next bottle isn't until 10 or close to 11 depending on her mood. I really don't want it to go that late, so I'm trying to figure out how I can get her on a schedule where she still eats at 9.

Joey is a little older than your baby, but by 3 months he was going 4 1/2-5 hours between bottles.

As of now, he gets his last bottle by 7:30 and wont get another one until 7:00am

Try giving her an ounce less at the 6 bottle this way she is hungrier earlier for the next feeding. The other option is to just top her off at 9 - if she doesn't finish the bottle, she doesn't finish it.

We do both with DD, depending on the timeframe that we are looking at.

Thanks..that's kind of what I was thinking. I'm going to have to play around with this on the weekend. My concern is that if I just top her off around 9ish, she will wake up during the night to eat and she's been sleeping through the night for the past 2 weeks, I don't want to disrupt that! Re: Question for moms who use formula (newborn question)

DD would eat every 3 hrs even on formula. Even now at 5 mths old she eats every 3-4 hrs.

As for the amt, what age are you asking about?

Re: Question for moms who use formula (newborn question)

Abigail is 8 weeks old
She eats 4-6 oz every 3 hours...I try to stretch her so sometimes she will go 3 1/2 hours.

The first bottle of the day is usually 4 oz...it's all she wants even after not eating all night...

The next is usually 5oz-6oz

The rest are usually 5oz

and the last (Depending on how tired she is) is 4-5 oz.

The last is between 8-9pm and she wakes anywhere from 5-7am.

Just offer her the bottle earlier for the last one. no matter what time dd's last feeding is (sometimes 530 or 6) we feed her again around 8 and put her to bed. She sometimes will just not take the full amount (shell take 4 instead of 6) but she still sleeps through

Re: Question for moms who use formula (newborn question)

Jake is 13 weeks old, and takes 6.5 oz every 3-4 hours. Last bottle he gets 7oz around 10-11 and then stays down til 7-7:30 am. He wakes sometimes around 4am, but we reswaddle and give him his binky, and he settles back in.

I'm going to try the last bottle at 9:00 like PPs have suggested instead of waiting for him to eat as late as 10 or 11.

About 6 oz, my DD was always a big eater, still is.

DS is 5 months old and drinks 3-4oz every 3 hours.
He will sometimes take 5oz before bed but he has reflux so reflux babies tend to eat less more often.

My DD also has reflux, but she usually takes 5oz. However, her afternoon bottle today she took 7oz.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with your DC's!
