Here's the list for the basket we are giving new parents..

Recap: Hubby's coworker adopted a baby girl born 8/11. Flew to UT and got her, is currently driving home with her. They were utterly unprepared. Were on the list less than 3 weeks when they were chosen. They have NOTHING.

Office folks are putting together a basket. Here's the list so far:

California baby sensitive lotion?

Shoulder pads for the carseat

“My family” picture frame
Aquafur tub (for cuts, scrapes, rash, baby acne, etc)

Cottonballs (for cleaning the face and under the chin)

receiving blankets

nuk pacifiers
dreft or tide free detergent
burping cloths
comb
microwave sanitizer bags

aden & anais swaddling blankets - BEST blankets we got and can be used for so many different things!

How about some sleepers? DS lived in footy sleepers until he was a few months old.

are you def putting it in a basket? maybe you can buy a baby bath tub and put it all in there?

I dont think they need a tub. They've been living in a hotel with her since she was born. I'm pretty sure that next to a car seat the first thing they got was a tub.

I dont think a basket will FIT this anymore frankly. I think I may suggest we get a storage bin instead so she can use that later, too.

I think some of that stuff is a waste: microwave sanitizer, paci clips, hand mixer.

I would go for more necessities like
DIAPERS
infant tylenol/motrin

My friend got her baby from Utah (best state when terminating parental rights!).

She didn't want anything in the house before flying out in case it didn't work out

I would throw in a baby monitor & see if she registered.

Is work throwing her a shower?

How old is the baby? My friend had her daughter at 4 days old so she was just sponging her off per hospital instructions.

We have about half a box of unopened wipes (Pampers Sensitive) that we'll be putting in.

She's a teacher. I don't know about her folks offering a shower. School hasn't started. Not even sure if she's gonna go back right away since she'll have the baby at home.

Def some sleep & play outfits. A boppy pillow would be nice, though possibly too large for the bin.

Love the storage bin idea- they always come in handy. Sounds like a great list!

miracle blanket

saline nose drops and aspirator -- I will NEVER forget the 4 AM trip my husband took to the pharmacy to get this while DD was a newborn and was making such horrible noises when breathing.
