What is your daily caloric intake?

The special k challenge post got me thinking about Individual nutrition needs. What is your average daily intake? How tall are you and what is your current weight? Are you maintaining your weight or actively trying to lose weight?

Re: What is your daily caloric intake?

I am 5 ' 6.5" tall and my weight ranges between 123 and 125 pounds. I am currently trying to maintain my weight. I am currently eating 1800-2200 calories/day depending on my activity level. My resting energy expenditure is 2074 calories.

Re: What is your daily caloric intake?

I am 5'6" and holding steady at 155 pounds (size 10). I've been at this size for the past few years.

Not particularly trying to lose weight right now, though I wouldn't complain if it happened!

I don't monitor my calories too closely, but when I have tracked it I've noticed I eat around 2,000 calories a day, or a few hundred more than that if I'm particularly active that week or if it's the week before my period. I would estimate I eat somewhere between 1,900-2,400 every single day.

When I do make an effort to lose a few pounds, I cut my calories to around 1600-1800, drink tea and work out a lot extra, and I notice a difference in a few weeks of doing that. But I never stick with that for long.

Is it bad, I have no idea how many I consume on a daily basis?

I would guess between 2000-2500, but I am very active and have more or less maintained my weight since high school.

ETA: I am 5'7" and weigh between 129 and 132, depending upon the day.

I just need to flatten my stomach a bit so you can see my abs- I am working on it - it's a slow process

If I were trying to lose weight I would eat around 1700 calories a day and I would be working out 4-5 days a week. Right now I am not working out much due to a very demanding work schedule.

You can use the Harris Benedict equation or an online calculator to get an idea of your resting energy expenditure. My endocrinologist measures mine by indirect calorimetry.

Re: What is your daily caloric intake?

Right now I am trying to lose weight. I am trying to keep my caloric intake to about 1500/day and I work out for an hour 5 days a week. I also have a cheat day.

I think my maintenance caloric amount without working out (sedentary) is around 1800. So between the lower caloric intake and working out, if I'm at net ~1200 calories a day I should see a loss of about 1-1.5 lbs per week. We'll see how long this lasts Chat Icon . It's only been a week so far.

I honestly have no idea...

Does everyone use an on-line tool or ap to track? If so can you recommend? I think I want to start tracking this.

I use MFP too and LOVE it. It has really helped me lose weight and be more conscious of what I am eating. It recommends that I eat 1200 on rest days so that is what I have been sticking too.
