UPDATE: my kitty is back at the vet
UPDATE: We got a call that his condition was so severe that the surgery would probably only give us a little more time with him. His urine was basically sand. The doctors decided that he would need surgeries instead of 1 and even that wouldn't guarantee anything bc even with the catheter in he was blocking. So we made the decision that since he was so young and in so much pain everytime this happened that we wouldn't put him through two major surgeries and all that pain just so we could keep him around for a couple months at best. So this morning we put our baby to sleep  We're so sad and I don't even know what to do without him. We can't stop asking ourselves if we did the right thing or if we should have tried the surgeries, recovery, etc. and prayed for a miracle that we would get our baby back.
2 weeks ago he had a urinary blockage and he got another one last night. now he's staying there until at least friday and having the pu surgery done i feel so bad for him. i don't want him to be in pain and i don't want him to have to undergo surgery but it seems like the best option for him.
to make it all worse i don't have a job right now and dh has been working two jobs just to pay our bills. and now we have a $3000 vet bill to cover somehow

I am so sorry. It's so easy to second guess yourself but you could have prevented him from so much pain, that's a very serious condition and it sounds like you have great medical advice.
I am very sorry for your loss
