I had my baby boy!!!
Anthony James arrived on Thursday 8/25 6lbs 7oz 19 3/4 inches.
Here is my birth story:
I woke up around 3:30 am on Thursday and figured just routine, was not sleeping anymore. I couldn't go back to sleep after that. At about 4:30 I had my first contraction. I woke DH up around 6am and told him I was had a had few contractions at different intervals but I didn't think anything of it because they were not regular. I told him I was going to get ready for work. I then went to the bathroom and noticed I was spotting so I called my doctor and she said to come in at 7:30 am she wanted to check me out.
I went to the office and she said I was still 1cm and in the early stage of labor, she said to come back to the office when my contractions were 5 mins apart. So I went home and at about 12 my contractions were 5 mins apart and really painful So DH and I went back to the office and she said that I was only 1 1/2 cm and to go home and come back to the office in 2 hours. I told her I couldn't take the pain (I was one who wanted a natural birth) and she said she couldn't admit me until I was at least 3 cm and it was probably going to be a while since this was my first baby.
DH and I went home around 2pm and I got into the bath, I was hoping it would help with the pain. 5 minutes after I got in I felt a pop and instant pain I just knew it was my water. I got out of the tub and the pain was just excruciating. DH called the doctor back and she heard me screaming in the background, she said go straight to the hospital. DH and I got to the hospital around 3pm and my doctor came in to check me, he said I was 8 cm...I honestly could not believe it.
At that point I was so scared I was not going to be able to get an epidural. I was not even having a break in between contractions it was constant pain. I was still able to get one. They wound up giving me 1/2 epi and 1/2 spinal so that it would be more instantaneous. The relief was instant, thank god. My doctor came back to check me after I got the epi and I was at 10 cm and ready to push at 3:30.
The pushing was not bad at all. I pushed for an hour. The babys heart rate started to drop and the doctor said he could either use forceps or I could have an episiotomy. So I opted to get cut. I didn't feel any of that but the baby was out in seconds.
It was the craziest day and it all happened so fast. I am thankful my baby boy arrived before the hurricane and we made it home before the storm.
We are so in love with out little prince. The staff at Good Sam were amazing and so helpful with everything including breastfeeding. All of you girls have nothing to worry about it. Make sure you take everything at that hospital, diapers, vaseline, anything you can get your hands on.
Girls with episiotomies, make sure you use tucks (it has witch hazel on it) it helps so much. Take lots of that from the hospital they are expensive.
Anyway I wish all you girls the best and can't wait to hear all of your birth stories.

CONGRATS, again!!!! Awesome birth story. Crazy how fast you went from 1 to 8 cm!!!!!!! I hope that happens to me :)

Congratulations! I can't believe how quickly you dilated, for your first baby. It shows you were right to want to stay at the hospital the 2nd time. Anyway, enjoy the time with your new - can't wait to see pics!
