So...some spotting is ok, right?

I was doing so well...had NO bleeding or spotting and was so much happier not having seen any. In my history, blood = no more little one(s), so far. Chat Icon
We were out to dinner with my parents, and my aunt and uncle. I, as usual had to go to the bathroom, so I did, and when I wiped there was (sorry- tmi) reddish/brownish discharge for lack of a better term. There is the smallest spot on my underwear but it was more noticeable when I wiped. Chat Icon Chat Icon
I tried to remain calm and went back to the table once I was done. DH took one look at me and knew something was up. I quietly told him and pulled out my phone to email Dr. B (I waste no time, lol) and DH told me to hold off b/c it was a holiday. Chat Icon It's good that one of us is calm in these situations... b/c I could care less if it's Christmas if there's a risk of losing them. Chat Icon I actually started miscarrying on Halloween with our last pregnancy.
I held off (saved it as a draft so it's all ready to go) and text a friend. She said she thinks it's just my uterus stretching and to go home and lay down... and that it's normal early in pregnancy. I attempted to eat dinner (but had no appetite anymore), then went back to the bathroom maybe 20 mins later. It was more like it was tinted and has since gone away over the course of a few hours.
We're going in for a sonogram later on this week. Do you think it's ok? Should I email Dr. B or wait to see if it starts back up? Last time he told me we had to wait it out until the sonogram and it was by far the single worst moment of my life... I don't think I can handle another one of those moments. Chat Icon
Sorry - this got long. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance/advice. TIA! Chat Icon

Re: So...some spotting is ok, right?

okay not to get gross but how large was it when you wiped? like a penny or dime amount or smaller? for me if it was a speck or two when i wiped i would wait...but if it was bigger it really cant hurt to email him. maybe if you are worried you can push for a sono tomorrow?
i am going on wed bc dh cant come on thurs which would be exactly 6 weeks..so maybe 2 days early isnt that bad?

Dime or penny sized... not bigger.
We're' going on Wednesday too b/c my DH can't get off on Thurs and dr. B has limited hours. I keep telling myself tomorrow's already Tuesday and to just hold off, but I'm a worrier when it comes to this.. Chat Icon

Re: So...some spotting is ok, right?

I had a little bleeding when I was PG with DD. She will be 2 at the end of this month. Chat Icon for you that all will be alright. Honestly if it were me, I would text your doctor. What I was told was that red/brown blood is old blood but bright red blood is new blood. HTH. Re: So...some spotting is ok, right?

I had bleeding on the night before my sono with the triplets and emailed Dr.B... It was more than what you are describing though. I was clotting and saw bright red!! (TMI, but whatever Chat Icon ). He told me it should be fine and bleeding especially with multiples was common (I already knew I had triplets). I thought he was nuts, but at least that helped me get through the night.

I got to the sono the next day and to my surprise.. all three babies were there with their hearts flickering, and two were EXTRA strong!!!!!!

I ended up losing them later on as you know, but a loss from a subchorionic hematoma is NOT COMMON!!!!!!!!! If you run a google search for subchorionic hematoma (common cause of pregnancy bleeding) you will see that 98% of the time it's FINE!!!

I bled all day on 14 dpo. It was reddish brown and it wasnt gushing or anything. I called dr b from DR (roaming, half hour on hold) and he said its the most common call he gets in early pregnancy. Ive been bugging the doc all weekend and hes responded. Id email him for peace of mind.

Btw I just wiped and saw a teeny amount of pink. Dh reminded me what dr b said, so I feel a little calmer

So Dr. B told me it was completely normal. He asked when my sono was and I replied. He wrote me back and said:

"the symptom of a brain tumor is a headache but not every headache is a brain tumor" and told me to sleep well.

I was so tempted to reply that in my track record it has been!!!! Chat Icon But I refrained and will attempt to get some sleep now thinking happy thoughts and talking to my belly, even though no one can hear me (except my DH and the cats, but DH talked to my belly earlier, so he can't complain!) Re: So...some spotting is ok, right?

I bled my entire first tri. I'm 15 weeks and haven't bled in weeks but I was off and on all first tri, I had FET. I remember days just freaking bci never bled with DD but everytime they check baby it was fine! I do wonder if it's more common with ivf. I only have one baby but no explanation for my bleeding....they put me on daily pio injections until 11 weeks. Try to remember it can be normal in pregnancy for some of us first tri. And I had good amounts of spotting....few bright bleeds etc....I lost a pregnancy before this one so I was more freaked but in the end it was no biggie bc I'm still trucking along.... I'm knocking on wood as I write this, lol

Shannon, I spotted/bled my entire first tri with DS. I had one particularly scary episode where I had to go to my ob bc they were open later and have a sono bc it was lots of red blood. I was sure I was losing him. But he's here. Yours will be too!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am sure everything will be okay. I know it will be hard for you to relax until you are well into the pregnancy- and probably not even then. Just try to keep thinking good thoughts like you're doing and get lots of rest!Chat Icon Chat Icon
