Irene wrecked my neighborhood bad! We got a rough estimate for damage today. We will have an exact figure tomorrow but the contractor estimates about 30k. This includes

Drying out of crawlspace/beamers
Installation of dehumidifier in crawlspace
Mold extraction
Rip out four feet of walls, re-insulate and Sheetrock
Rip out floors throughout downstairs, re-insulate
New floors throughout downstairs (about 800 sq feet)
New cabinets in kitchen
New vanity in downstairs bath

What do you think? Does that sound reasonable? Insurance is paying, though I'm not sure of how much yet

Kitchen cabinets are very expensive, so that could be a big part of it no?

That sucks, I'm sorry :( I've heard of so many stories like this in my neighborhood.

That quote is high but then again that's a lot of work to be done - cabinetry is expensive, as is replacing the hardwood floors. See how it all adds up tomorrow and you can see it broken down by area.

Sounds about right. Mold is no joke, so that takes longer and you have to be super careful removing it. Floors, cabinets, pretty on point.
