Do you think this is stealing their thunder?

Our very good friend from out of state is having his first baby (I think about 15 weeks along). They are in town this week and we found out they just got engaged! It's very exciting and we're meeting up this weekend. We were going to tell them our news (I am 6 weeks) since we never see them in person and this is a BFF. DH and I don't want to steal their thunder however, so now we're not sure if we should say anything. Would you tell them? We probably will not see them again until maybe December or maybe next year.

I don't think so at all. I think they will be thrilled for you. Its not like you're at a party or something and revealing to everyone for the first time. You are just telling them! I think its great.

Re: Do you think this is stealing their thunder?

I just went thru this with my cousin. This is their first and my third.

I shared my news as well.

The majority thought it was fine, that every baby should be celebrated. But there were some who thought I stole thunder.

Honestly, I'm just as excited about this baby as I was for my 1st 2, and so was everyone else.

Do what you feel comfortable with.

Re: Do you think this is stealing their thunder?

I would tell them. I had a situation not really the same but I told my best friend of over 30 years i was pregnant and in the same conversation she told me she was too. In no way did i think she was trying to "steal my thunder" in fact i was over the moon excited for her as she was for me. Again this is jmoChat Icon

I would feel them out first and make a game day decision.. only because sometimes hormones make people normally chilled out people a bit uptight. I honestly dont' think you'll be stealing their thunder because one, you already know they are expecting, and second, you know they are engaged, its not like a surprise or he's going to propose or anything like that. You guys are meeting up, and you have some exciting news as well.

Regardless, you should do what you are comfortable with.. good luck!

I don't believe in stealing someone's thunder. The more good news the better!

I would definitely tell them! It's great to have a BFF to swap symptoms with and all that. I agree with some of the other ladies that I would probably share with just them, not announce to a whole big group if it's their celebration.
