Parking at JFK
As nice as it would be to take a car service, I'm just nit sure it's worth the money for just a few days. Can anyone recommend a parking lot for JFK? We will be there arely in the morning, so I need one with good, prompt shuttle service to the terminal.

Re: Parking at JFK
If it is long term, why not do JFK long term parking. We've done avistar and the JFK long term, and I prefer JFK. No one driving my car, squishing it between other cars etc. The tram takes you right to your terminal.

Can you tell me more about the long term parking. Is it off site or on the airport grounds? Also what is avistar?

Avistar is a company that you bring your car to, they park it for you, and you take a shuttle bus to your terminal. When you come home, you call them up, the shuttle will pick you up and they will have your car waiting for you to drive off.
The JFK long term parking is at JFK (although it is far away from the terminals). You park your car in a huge parking lot, lock it up, and get on the tram (free). It will drop you off at your terminal. When you return, you hop back on the tram and go to the long term parking lot, get in your car and you can pay with your ezpass as you leave.
We just didn't like the idea of other people driving our car at the private parking lot. While your car can get scratches anywhere, we don't like the idea that private companies were not taking responsibility for damaged vehicles (in reviews I read). I'm sure JFK won't either, but the chances of people moving their cars that are in a parking spot is less of a risk to me. In avistar, I'm sure they move cars around to get other cars out if their owners come back etc. We took note of what cars were next to ours when we left, and they were the same when we came back. We also saw security driving throughout. JFK parking was slightly more expensive, but we liked it better. Plus the kids loved going on the train.

The long term parking, is that on Lefferts Blvd? Or is that the Avistart?
I'm debating doing the long term parking and I want to make sure I know where I'm going
Thanks for the help.

Yes, I believe it is on Lefferts Blvd. When you drive to JFK, follow the signs to long term parking. You literally drive 5 minutes past the airport on side roads that make you believe you're leaving the airport lol. But, there are signs all over for it directing you.

Re: Parking at JFK
I have always used Avistar. 24 hr security. In the long term parking lot it is not quite as safe and patrolled. if you do avistar make sure to make a reservation.

Re: Parking at JFK
For a long trip we used http://airportparking1.com
We took a 2 week trip and did not want to pay for long term parking at JFK and since we live in the city, we could not risk leaving our vehicle parked (alternate side rules) since we already get enough parking tickets. We had a friend keep our truck and we took the car to the airport.
The place was hard to find since we are not familiar with Queens. We drove right past it the first time. But when we called the guy directed us pretty well.
It's a small lot (fenced and secured). Definitely get a reservation.
You park your car and get in their shuttle to go to the airport. Just to be safe, we did take our GPS out of the car and we also wrote down the mileage of our car. Everything was fine when we came back from the trip. No problems at all.
We plan to use them again for a trip in December.
