Playgrounds that are toddler appropriate?
Do these exist?
I need one that is fenced in and not crowded bc I need to take the boys by myself.
We live in Melville but will travel (Suffolk preferred).
Heckscher Park is great.....but it's way too crowded.
Any other ideas?

Believe it or not, the ones at Sunken Meadow and Robert Moses (Field 5) are the best ones around for toddlers! I take DS all the time!!!! They are the BEST!

I live in Melville too - the upper playground at the Plainview Pool is good. It has bucket swings, smaller sized equipment, a foam floor, and it is fenced in. My 15 month old has a great time there! There is even enough open space to kick or toss a ball around.

Re: Playgrounds that are toddler appropriate?
Great ideas! Thx! I tried Sunken Meadow today but they wanted me to pay $9! I refused! I guess I'll try one of the other places. I hate paying to get into parks.

I should've mentioned it's a State Park. Sorry. If you go after 4pm, and soon enough, weekends will be free - just look it up when they will stop charging. You might be able to get in during the week for free, if not soon... You'll love it. Definitely go back.
The boardwalk is beautiful, so bring your stroller for a nice walk as well.

Re: Playgrounds that are toddler appropriate?
just went to the one in Northport and thought it was fabulous! Nothing too high that they can fall off of and totally fenced in. Only thing is that it's all sand which bothered me a lot more than DS
P.S. Its the one to the left of the harbor if you're looking at it (not the old one to the right).

Re: Playgrounds that are toddler appropriate?
DS is a runner so I am always looking for totally fenced in playgrounds. The one in Port Jefferson (Rocketship Park) is great too.

Cedar Creek in Wantagh has a nice park. The play grounds are separated by age.

Re: Playgrounds that are toddler appropriate?
Tanner Park is rarely crowded, especially this time of year. I took DS down there on Friday and there were only like 3 little kids at the playground.
You also don't have to pay the entrance fee anymore after Labor Day.
There are also a couple decent pizza places nearby, you could make a day out of it afterwards. Either Joe's or Mama's are great.
