I told him he cant play the computer ever again and sent him to bed. Chat Icon I guess I didnt think about talking to him about sex yet... I figured he was still a little young. YIKES! GOOD LUCK with that one....My son is only 7 and we always use correct language (no slang) to refer to anatomy. Last year he asked me what boobies were and I nearly died. I can not imagine my reaction when I realize he is looking for more info on sex!

DW and I were talking yesterday about our 8yo DS, and agreed that we're going to have to start having talks with him very soon..

When SS was pre-teen, DH discovered that some of the no-fee game sites he was playing on had links that took kids right to porn sites. Check the websites - it could truly have been an innocent mistake.

Noooooooooooo! Nooooooooooo!!!!! Im not ready for this! My DS will be 9 next month. I dont think he knows much at all except my niece is almost 11 and she did explain "the video" they saw at school last spring to him & my 7 yr old daughter. A far cry from the stuff your DS was watching but still, they are getting curious. Wow, hard to be unemotional, my reaction might be the same. Probably....so many thoughts go through your head as the parent & fear of them getting older. Freaking seems like a very normal reaction. I guess it's a good time for what's acceptable to watch and not. I think the talks & in this day, the internet rules, come up on you so quick. Please let us know how you handle it. I dont have advice since mine is not there (yet!!) but I am always looking for new perspectives.

I agree with the PP. Some of the free game sites do have links to suggestive sites. I'm sure he clicked on the link by mistake.

As far as talking to your kids about sex... It has always been a conversation of sorts in my house. We are age appropriate, but honest. My kids know that babies start when sperm meets egg. They know how babies grow in the uterus and come out through the vagina. They know about breastfeeding, and also the proper names for anatomy. My DS who is 10 knows the mechanics of sex, and understands that there are diseases that spread through unprotected sex, but that there are ways to protect yourself.

In this day and age, I don't want anyone to get to my child and give them the wrong info before I got my act together enough to give them the right info. I want to be the FIRST person to speak to them about this stuff. If you think there's not conversations going on about sex in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade, you're wrong. It's happening. There have been times that DS has come to me saying, "A friend told me XYZ... is that true?" 9 times out of 10, it's not.

I want the lines of communication to be open between me and my kids on this topic. I would rather err on the side of "overinformed" than underinformed.
