Drama in PTA's

So, I posted on my FB how I was interested in learning more about my DD's school PTA. My biggest warning from friends was not to get involved in the drama.
I kinda figure.... if I can survive LIF, I can survive a PTA for a few years Chat Icon

Funny I get the same response when I say I want to be involved. Then when I mention all the things I volunteered for at school already, I hear you will learn.... Reality is, I know in my heart I am doing the right thing so I just brush it all off.

i attended my first meeting last week and didn't find it too bad...but i have been warned not to attend too many or they will suck you in! Chat Icon

i joined the PTA but doubt i'll be an active member. i wasn't going to do anything this year, but wound up helping out with the class as two people backed out and the teacher really needed help...

It is good training but if you piss someone off here, they just post nasty things.

If you piss someone off there, it could affect your child's friendships.

It all depends as some years there are major cliques.

Never thought of it that way. That's pretty sad! Chat Icon

OMG YES BARB! I am going through this now. Learning how to bite my tongue for the greater good WHILE trying to be involved for my daughter is unlike anything I have ever done before. You SO want to give a piece of your mind, but I am afraid of the repercussions for my 6 year old.
