Anyone have a pit mix?

Hi-DH and I are looking into our second dog-we went to a shelter today and fell in love with an adorable pit bull mix. She was so sweet. Our only concern is the fact that we have a small dog now (8lbs) who is three years old. Does anyone have a pit mix and can you tell me anything about the temperament?

I am also a little concerned about the fact that we dont' have any kids yet...I'm not sure how they are with kids.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA.

Pitmixes are great dogs. A lot of people in my development have them. I am guessing theymake good apt dogs??

You can bring your dog to the shelter to meet her. Def have them meet on neutral territory, not in your house.

A great website to post these type of questions is on petfinders.com. Here is the link:

Re: Anyone have a pit mix?

I had the greatest dog on earth who happened to be a pit mix. Dad was a pure pit, Mom was a rottie mix. Copper was awsome in every situation. With kids, with other animals. People and animals alike were drawn to him. Even my silly bird used to like to ride around on his head. So many people offered to take him, if anyting ever happened in my life that I couldn't keep him. But NO WAY!! He was just incredible. He recently passed away from lymphoma, but gave me 11 of the most wonderful years. Here is a picture to attest to his ability to be with a small dog.

AN amazing rescue to go through for pit bulls is this one!!
