Do Dogs have seasonal allergies?
Shammy has been sneezing the past couple of days. Otherwise he seems his normal self. We are thinking its allergies.
Could it be?

Yup! My coworker just had to take her dog to the vet for allergies. She said the dogs been sneezing and itching alot. She's on allergy meds now and the itching has stopped.

Re: Do Dogs have seasonal allergies?
curious did your vet happen to recommend putting your dog on a pure food before meds? Sometimes dogs develop allergy to commercial dog food and if you put them on just chicken or duck (for example) they do better. Any change to your laundry soap? Carpet cleaner? All of these things can be contributing factors in dog allergies.

We talked about these issues but the allergies were clearly seasonal and the reaction was increased after he spent time outdoors.

Re: Do Dogs have seasonal allergies?
My dog (silky terrier) has severe allergies, he ithced his ear so badly that he developed a hematoma in it (which now has resulted in cauliflower ear ) anyway it seems that it's a food allergy (beef and chicken) so he was put on Iams allergy bits and he seems to be doing much better..the food he eats now is kangaroo and oats (from what the vet said).

Re: Do Dogs have seasonal allergies?
Sam started itching a few days ago...then licking his belly til it was red and raw... Vet said it's been a bad allergy season for the pets...He's on Benedryl and that is helping him.
