Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
My best friend lives in PA and is going apple picking in NY with some of her family and invited us along. We said we would go and we will, but I mapquested the place last night and it gave me a travel time of a little over 2 hours! I was a little shocked because when talking to her she made it sound like it was closer then that! So are we crazy or would you travel that far for a nice day with friends you hardly get to see?
ETA: ok so the place we planned on going to apparently has gotten terrible reviews so now we are looking for another place upstate...any suggestions?

I would go definitely!!!
But then again, I'm the crazy lady driving 3 hours tomorrow to go outlet shopping in Philly for a fun day out. I'm all for an adventure.
Happy apple picking!

Yep. I love day trips. I am driving up north this weekend with friends to go to a fall festival. Sometimes I just need to get off this island

I personally wouldn't only because 2 hours tends to turn into 4 on the weekends because of all the traffic.

Re: Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
We also picked a place to go apple picking today which was 1hour 45 minutes away , we decided that with the three day weekend and the crowds that will be there- it just wasn't worth the trip for us- so we opted for a 45 minute drive ; still upstate, but closer. I also have a 7 month old and I know from past experiences that she doesn't too well with anything over 2 hours of a drive (I don't either though! )

I usually go 2 hours plus away....we go upstate with friends. This was the first year in about 5 we haven't gone there. This year we went by ourselves but it is always more fun with friends!

Re: Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
I would, but we drive 2/2.5 hours to go apple picking upstate every year since I was little. Most years we get there around 9/9:30am, I think we're done by 12, eat lunch and hang out at a park by a lake (nearby), then start heading back by 2:30/3. The place we go also has fresh made apple cider doughnuts, and other things we love :)

I totally would! upstate apple picking is THE BEST too!!
I love day trips. I love being outdoors and taking road trips too.
It's also nice to see your friends that you don't get to see often.
YES, I would go for sure!

Re: Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
We did, just yesterday actually!
We live in Charlotte, and we drove 2.5 hours west to the mountains to go Apple Picking. A bit extreme, but the kids had a great time and we got some fresh apple cider...all worth it!

Re: Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
We did it today and had a great time. Went to Lawrence Farm upstate and had an awesome time. it was super busy but never crowded and tons of apples.
We did not want a 2 hour drive at all, but heard there were'nt many apples out east. The drive up went really fast.

We do day trips like that on a very regular basis, so yes, I would. In fact, we just did it this weekend for apple picking.

Do they have the little "town" for kids there? I think that is where we have gone strawberry picking the last 2 years.
We went to Love Apple Farms for applie picking, in Ghent, NY. This is the 3rd year in a row we went there. It was crowded this year, and we are ready to switch it up again next year.
I wish I could remember the name of the place we went pumpkin picking last year--it was so great. We are picking a new place for this year.

Re: Would you drive 2 hrs to go apple picking for the day?
The place we go to every year is 2 hours away so yes, I would. I highly recommend Wilklow Orchards!! It's in Highland, NY (by New Paltz). They have little booths set up at different parts of the orchards where you can drop off your apples and they bring them to the register for you so you don't have to lug them around the whole time you're picking apples. They also have amazing apple cider donuts, hayrides, a small little market with pies, apple cider, etc.

I would never drive that far to go apple picking by ourselves.
I would drive that far easily to see my best friend. Go and have fun!

I wouldn't go now because apples are kind of over, so I don't know if its worth the trip. apples peak season is in sept.
If it was peak season I would go though!
