Checking Account
If you have a budget and share your checking account and debit cards with a spouse or SO, how do you deal with them using the debit card for things not in the budget? Do you "pad" your checking account with extra money for these type of things?

Re: Checking Account
DH's debit card expired and he hasn't gotten another one.
Anything extra he wants to buy, comes out of HIS money.
It works because he doesn't "get" how much goes to the bills each month.

My dh gets spending money too but he doesn't know how to budget that either, hence the reason I do the bills-lol!!

Re: Checking Account
We have a 100 dollar rule. Anything over 100 gets discussed with the other. We have a very rough budget. We have fixed expenses that come out of our checking accounts and I "budget" for our credit card bill for everything else which gets paid in full.
If our credit card bill is over the amount allocated i have a slush fund that gets dipped into for that (for mini emergencies or splurges). In addition we have an emergency fund for if God forbid the s**t really hits the fan.
This seems to work.
