It's just the formula - it curdles a little and it looks like that when they spit up.

Is it really thick?

I would give a call to the ped. I don't think it should look like that. I was referring to spit up that was thin, like regular spit-up.

My DD is EBF, but occasionally has the cottage cheese spit-up too. The ped told me that it's just curdled milk. Milk that has been sitting around in her stomach for a while and comes back up looks like that. And formula is mostly milk, right?

As long as it doesn't hurt her and she's gaining weight, it's not a problem.

ETA: I just saw that your DD has colic. If she's uncomfortable / crying a lot, that would explain why she's spitting up now, and spitting up an hour or more after feeding (so it looks chunky). Sometimes when my DD is having a crying episode after a feeding, her spitup will be a mix of the new stuff AND what she ate 2 hours earlier, so even if she just ate, she'll spit up the old, curdled milk. Lovely. They're supposed to outgrow this by 3 or 4 months!

this! Chunky means it's made it's way to the stomach. Not necessarily a bad thing. Their digestive systems tAke time to adjust. DD is 4 months and still gets it here and there. Mention it at your next dr visit but I wouldn't be overly concerned unless your baby is screaming during and after feedings coupled with the spit up.

Pretty much echoing what others have already said, but it sounds normal. My daughter had spit up like that a few times, it just depends on how long it's been in the stomach before it comes back up. The acids make it curdle like that.

You know your baby better than we do though, and if you really are concerned it never hurts to call the pediatrician. No harm in asking them about it.
