:( my hair
OK I have always had really thick hair ...my hair is still really thick ..i just got it cut recently after having my dd....how ever i have noticed i have been losing alot of hair lately ...this morn i actually almost cried in the shower i was washing my hair and literally a clup of hair came out .
my hair dresser said it was normal after giving birth...i called my dr to set up and appointment just to make sure all is well....my daughter almost 4 months , it was a rough pregnancy..we are looking for a house cause we are growing out of our 1 bedroom apartment, my father recently passed away after my daughter turned 1 month and have had some family disputes.....so i know i am stressing and this can be adding ...but i wanted to know if any of you ladies have noticed this happening to you after giving birth.

Re: :( my hair
Yes, this is very common about three to four months after giving birth. There is a section in the baby books about it. YOu have to watch out for your hair wrapping around the toes, fingers, or even the private areas of your little one. I had to bring my daughter to the ER to get them cut off a piece of my hair wrapped around her toes. She was screaming for two days. I brought her to her ped. and gastro and they even checked her for it. But they missed it.

Yes very common to lose that much hair and be very careful checking your LOs fingers, toes, even penis if it's a boy, for a strand of hair wrapped. If the baby is ever crying for no reason or to no avail, always check for this.It happened to my friend's DC. She almost lost a toe but thankfully it was saved.

Re: :( my hair
Oh my goodness, my hair fell out in CLUMPS for at least 6 months. I thought something was seriously wrong and I literally would not have any hair left but lo and behold, it went back to normal!

Re: :( my hair
it definately happens after having a baby, but if you are getting blood work checked, have them check your thyroid. my hair falls out when my levels get low.

Re: :( my hair
This is TOTALLY NORMAL! I have also found that it is one of the wonderful facts about pregnancy that nobody tells you about before you have a baby!
Basically when you are pregnant, all of the hormones in your body make your nails stronger, make your hair seem thicker. Basically your body stops shedding hair daily like you usually do. Your scalp holds onto the hair. When we are not pregnant, there is a certain amount of hair that we shed each day that stops when pregnant.
Once you have the baby and the hormones start to go back to normal, your body starts to shed all the hair you would have normally let go of while you were pregnant and it seems like it all comes out at once! It will eventually stop.
But it doesn't take away from the shock of it!
