Re: Contractions...
Honestly to me it felt like an elephant doing jump and jacks on my uterus. The most uncomfortable pain ive ever experienced. Trust me, when they hit there will be no doubt in your mind

Re: Contractions...
I was having contractions that I was not feeling for weeks. I only felt my first about 5 hours after my water broke, about 3 hours before I delivered the twins

Re: Contractions...
Everyone told me they would feel like strong menstrual cramps. To me they did not. To me they felt like a strong tightening or almost spasming of my abdomen that would take hold, take my breath away for a bit, then subside.
ETA- I can't say how they felt after about 4 cm when I got my epi. After that I felt NOTHING! They may have gotten stronger or felt different at that point but I was blissfully unaware!

See, that's what i was expecting to feel - however mine were more like REALLY strong menstrual cramps, lower back pain and spasms.
I guess everyone is different
I too felt no contractions until about an hour after my water broke (a week after my DD) and had been 2-3 cm dilated for a week prior
but regardless of 'what' they feel like.. you'll know it when you feel them! there's no mistaking them for sure

Re: Contractions...
They can feel different for everyone, depending on the person, the position of the baby, etc. For me, they were absolutely 100% super strong menstrual cramps. They felt EXACTLY like my menstrual cramps had always felt only WAY stronger.

Re: Contractions...
My early contractions felt like a tightening of the abdomen. It didn't hurt but was enough to keep my up at night. My contractions during active labor was the same, except it was stronger, more frequent and hurt like hell. it never felt like menstrual cramps and I did not have lower back pain.
