Going back to work, how can I get her to sleep through the night?
I was lucky to be home for 3 & a half months with DD. First day back is tomorrow & I can't imagine how I'm going to do it when I'm up all night. This has been her sleeping schedule for the past couple weeks..... She sleeps great form 8:30pm-12:30am from 12:30-3 she wakes up whimpering about 3 times when her binky falls out but she goes back to sleep after I put it back in. But by 3 or 4 the binky trick doesn't work & she wants to eat so I give her a bottle but she won't go back to sleep for at least an hour & a half & then she's up at 6:30-7 for the day (& I'm exhausted ) Any suggestions on how to break this pattern? Do you think oatmeal in her last bottle would help? Ped said it wouldn't but my family swears by it, any thoughts?

I don't think the oatmeal will work. At 3 1/2 months your DD stomach is only so big. She physically can't eat more. The only thing that might work is to do a dream fed before you go to bed at night. She'll still get up but you might get a longer stretch of sleep.

Sometimes there's nothin you can do I'd listen to your Ped over the family DS1 was sleeping through the night before he started eating I have an almost 4 month old that gets up twice a night and I go back to work in a couple of weeks
Hopefully she will eventually start sttn, but for now I'd listen to her doc

My kids are no where near sleeping through the night, but I will tell you what bought us another hour, sometimes hour and a half more a night : warming the last bottle. We use room temp water the entire day, but the last bottle we warm up a few min. They seem to really dig it You can try that.
I would also try the dream feeding right before you go to bed.
My family told me to put the oatmeal in their bottle when they were 4 weeks old , these are the same people who swear by whisky on the gums , that's your call. Not sure I would try it without peds ok, but I know tons of people who do it.

Read the book "12 hours by 12 weeks" or now it's called " the baby sleep solution " by Suzy Giordano I think. I followed her technique before I went back to work and my DS was STTN by 4 mos.

good point
I do the same thing with the bottles (room temp during day & warm at night) I think that's why she sleeps from 8:30-12:30. I also dreamfeed but no help yet. I have to look up why oatmeal or cereal isn't good for them so young. I've heard so many different things I can't remember anything. Thanks for the advice

I just looked into it quick & some research says that it may cause your child to be more susceptible to allergies. I guess I'll try to hold off.

We followed the schedule in Baby Wise. By 11 weeks he was sleeping from about 8:30-5:30. Good luck!

Re: Going back to work, how can I get her to sleep through the night?
I might sound like a bad mom, but if there is no poop in her diaper, I don't change it during the night, and that keeps her from really waking up when she wakes up at night.
If you are FFing, can you have a bottle with water ready and the formula measured out right next to the bed to minimize her waking up?
I feel like that has made the biggest difference - not letting her "wake up." She sleeps in our room, so when she cries I feed her immediately in the dark room and she falls right back out while she is eating. We used to get up to go change her diaper, feed her in her room, then she would be wide awake and I would have to put her back to sleep, whereas now she can put herself to sleep.
GL!

Good Luck. My DS went from STTN and now waking up every 2 hours since I went back to work. He’s 15 weeks. It hasn’t been fun. I would ask your ped about the oatmeal. My Ped is against putting it in the bottle. I BF and plan on introducing formula this weekend for his bedtime feedings in hopes that may help us get a couple more hours rest. The warm bottle definitely did help DS1 sleep longer.

Re: Going back to work, how can I get her to sleep through the night?
A few of the things that I feel really worked for us when we were getting DD to sleep through the night at around 3 months old...
When she woke up hungry in the middle of the night we worked together. DH quickly heated up the bottle and I went into the room with the lights still off, just sat with her in the glider, and fed her and rocked her back to sleep. We didn't turn the lights on or do anything that would stimulate her so that she got the drift that it was still night time and time to rest.
We would put her to bed awake...and yes, we did some modified CIO and it was hard at first, but I feel that in the long run it worked. She learned how to soothe herself back to sleep. Even at a young age she'd put the paci back in herself and start her mobile/music box in the middle of the night, which we'd hear through the monitor, but her calls out to us were few and far between.
We didn't chagne her diaper in the middle of the night if it was just some pee. Only if it was very full or #2...
