Which age would you recommend the Leappad for?

Someone asked about a 5 yr old, which I have, but I also have a 7 yr old that will be 8 in January. Do you think he's too old?

They both have a Leapster and they hardly ever touch it since it's all about the Xbox 360 and sometimes the DS.

My DH thinks that they won't play with it since they don't touch their Leapsters? From what I see, I think it's a lot cooler than a Leapster and does so much more that they both would enjoy it?

My sister wants to get the boys something for Xmas and I was wondering about this? I just didn't want her to waster her money.

I think I would get it for a kid until they were about 6 1/2 years old, but if they already had access to other gaming systems I am not sure it would hold as much interest. I think at 7 I would get a DS or an inexpensive tablet computer/give them one of our old ones. I am giving them to my 2 and 4 year old children for hanukkah. At that point they will be almost 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. Our explorer gets played with all the time. We do limit them to 15 minute intervals though.
