Those who go to LI IVF...

This is my first cycle with them, and so far everything has been great, no wait, 6:30am-8am monitoring hours (was car to car this am in literally 15 minutes exactly). Nice office, super clean, everyone is great, so far so good!

However I have a question about the billing and taking of co-pays. My first appt I paid $50 which is my co-pay for a specialist, when I saw Dr. B it was only $30. Plus I get an additional $30 for every sono I get. Here they said they'd taking care of billing later on, so I don't get charged the day of.

Now at LI IVF they seem to monitor me a lot. So far I did CD3 and CD6, and will go back again for CD9. That will cost me $240! $50 for the visit and $30 for the U/S. At Dr. B's I only went for CD3, and CD10 and usually had my IUI the following day (with no U/S).

How does this work at LI IVF, do you pay a co-pay for each visit (which I would assume yes). Also how many times to be monitored in a cycle is normal?

I was confused about this at first also but they sent me a bill in the mail for the copays from the monitoring. For an IUI I went about every 2 days.

They do a lot of monitoring. For IVF, I went like 5 times over 8 days, I think. Chat Icon

So far I have gone CD3, CD6, CD8 (which was this am), and now they want me to come back in tomorrow morning CD9!

My biggest follie was only 13, this is kind of annoying to me. This being my 9th IUI I am pretty sure "timing" isn't my problem.

At Dr. B I would go in CD3 and then a full week later, about CD10 and I'd usually trigger CD10 or CD11 and go in the next day for the IUI, we never missed the follie.

I am scared my bill is $320 so far, I can't continue like this if I am to save for IVF. This cycle will probably be about $500 and I have insurance!

Re: Those who go to LI IVF...

i guess it depends on your insurance. but for me, i had to pay a co-pay only when i saw the dr. if the sono tech or nurse did the sono and i never saw the dr, i didn't have to pay the co-pay. i was confused about this in the beginning as well. i talked to the billing department and asked about the codes they used and then verified everything with my insurance.

I go to LI IVF.. I admit when I was doing IUI's I was getting a little annoyed at how frequently I had to visit them.
I just paid my bill of $420 for 4 months worth of IUI's. These are all co-pays... my ins covers everything.

I cannot believe it but I have to go back tomorrow, for the 3rd day in a row.

CD3
CD6
CD8
CD9
CD10

My arms are destroyed from the needles with such big bruises and they hurt. I don't want to be monitored this much. I feel it is pointless for me.

My biggest follie was 15, so I know they're going to make me go back Monday too.Chat Icon

They do tend to monitor excessively. It gets annoying but if you end up PG it will all be worth it. GL!

I got pregnant through LI-IVF doing IVF. A couple thoughts on your situation: If this is your first IUI with LI-IVF but your 9th overall, maybe for this first cycle it'd help to be a bit more open-minded to a new approach, even though it is costing a bit more than it did at the place that monitored you less often but did not get you pregnant. The more they learn about how you respond, the better your chance may be if a future IUI or IVF is needed. And if it is really bothering you, you should talk to the doctor and say so and talk to the billing dept too and maybe they can cut back. Don't silently stew over it. They don't know how you feel if you don't tell them. Good luck!

Well I probably need IVF and would love to do it however, I cannot afford it now as it is OOP.

And I am not silently stewing. I did mentioned the excessive blood work and monitoring and was told that is the way they did things, so I choose to go along and do it because it was their protocol, but I would think I can still come here and complain a bit about my sore bruised arms, no?

I believe I mentioned in my post I was extra emotional those few days, I am sure you understand we all go through it from time to time.

Furthermore this really wasn't a new protocol on their part, this WAS my next step with Dr. Braverman however he stopped taking insurance.

Congratulations on your successful IVF!Chat Icon

Sorry, I misread your post as far as having mentioned it to them. I just remember sometimes not speaking up or asking questions myself. For me the bloodwork was the worst since my veins are not good (I have only one that can be ever found!). I hope this works and you don't have to move on to IVF. I didn't have coverage either. But if you do need it, there are grant programs that you may qualify for and other payment options and some of them offer some kind of refund program. I'm sure there's more to it and there may be delays in getting grants (not sure) but its something to ask about. Like I said I hope this IUI works for you and you won't need any of this. Oh and it helped me to drink a lot of water before my bloodwork.Chat Icon
