Ipod/radio for 5 year old
DD is getting into music. She loves to dance and sing. She takes our ipod and brings it in her room to dance around.
I want to get her a mp3/ipod and a dock for Christmas.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a kid friendly one?
There are a ton out there, but some of the reviews (NON APPLE) aren't that good. She is pretty good with caring for my ipod and her DS, so that isn't the issue. I just was hoping for an inexpensive, but reliable option.
Plus, if we buy a regular mp3, can we put music from itunes on there?

Re: Ipod/radio for 5 year old
My DD is 5, as well, and we got her an ipod touch for her birthday. After seeing how careful she was with our ipods and not being thrilled with the other mp3 players we saw, we decided to invest in it. It's been 6 months and she cares for it like it was a newborn baby! She is always listening to music in her room, dancing, reading books on it, playing games on it, etc. It really has been a worthwhile investment.

Re: Ipod/radio for 5 year old
My DD was the same way so I got her a non Apple MP3 player 2 Xmases ago. She was 5 1/2 then so I wasnt sure how it would go. It had a little window with the song names. It was fine but the problem was she couldn't sync with Itunes so we couldn't buy her any music. I got her an Ipod shuffle last Xmas. It was $50 I think. It doesnt have a viewing window for titles but you can press the button and it has voice over that tells you the name of the song. She's 7 and she has all her Big Time Rush and Kids Bop stuff and is pretty satified with it thus far.
The downside is it's so tiny, if it gets misplaced it could be pretty much anywhere.

Re: Ipod/radio for 5 year old
My kids have itouchs.. to be honest, it has been the best investment thus far.. my DD (5) is on her second (I upgraded her older one to the new 4G with camera/video).. she is actually making a video journal (god help me!) that I found on hers and takes pics of her siblings and plays games and stuff on it.. she loves it! My 3YO uses hers alot as well.. They have otterbox cases on theirs as well so it helps tremendously in keeping it in tact

I thought I was crazy at fist for considering an IPOD for DD, but I guess not! Good to know!

Re: Ipod/radio for 5 year old
Dh and I are both on our 2nd ipod Nanos...the old style that had a screen and shows the cover art. He replaced mine 2 years ago just so that I could have more storage and it still worked fine. So we have loaded all of DD's music into that one. She has several playlists...her "young" one iwth things like Laurie Berkner which she still listens to when in the mood, her "big" one with things like Selena Gomez, Big Time Rush, popular music, etc. And then we have Halloween Playlists, Christmas Playlists etc that DH loads on for her during the right months.
She loves her ipod. It is great when we don't aggree on what we want to listen to in the car! Sometimes I'm not in the mood for teeny booper stuff and she's not in the mood for my quiet music!
One thing we did was volume control it. You can do it in the settigns so that your child can only turn it up so loud...otherwise she'd be blasting it!
