winter cruise Q
I am looking to take a cruise the last week of February, but will need to fly to Florida where the cruise will leave from. I was originally looking at March, but the cruise is a few hundred dollars cheaper (the flight is less expensive as well) if I leave the last week in February. I know the weather in Feb still has a good chance for snow, so I just wanted to see if anyone took a cruise around this time and was possibly delayed by bad weather. In this case, what happens if we get snowed in, can't get down to Florida, and can't make the cruise departure? Does buying cruise insurance ensure that you get a refund? TIA!

Re: winter cruise Q
Most travel insurance will cover you for weather delays but it depends on the actual policy so be sure to ask that specific question.
We've had situations flying out of NY (Newark, LaGuardia and JFK) where parts of our party couldn't make it due to weather. It really helps to fly in a day early, just in case.

Re: winter cruise Q
I have a cruise this Feb and have cruised in Feb before. I am cruising out of tampa, leaving Sunday, I am planning on leaving Friday, so even if there is snow, I have until Sun morn to get out. If I know in advance it is coming, I might even try to rebook( which the airlines will let you do if there is a storm) or I would literally get in my car Thursday an drive down. I also have cruise insurance, but I don't know how easy it is to get refunds. Good Luck

Always fly down the day before in the wintertime... It helps to have that extra day just in case... I am booked on a cruise in jan and did purchase insurance... partly bc of the weather aspect, but mainly bc im pregnant... Im not sure if Id get my money back or cruise credit... either way i dont lose

Re: winter cruise Q
We cruise every year in January and have never had a problem or a delay. I'm sure anything is possible with weather, but in 10+ years nothing!
