Letting your dog run off leash
We are going to the shelter on Friday to look at puppies, but I'm still considering the Vizsla breed, and also the Welsh Springer Spaniel. I like the idea of a purebred dog (from a breeder) because their traits are pretty predictable. So I'm trying to prepare myself if we are to get one of these breeds, lol. Are there any places that you can bring your dog off leash in western Nassau to run besides dog parks? Somewhere safe and away from traffic?
Any help would be appreciated!!! Also, if you go to dog parks, which ones?

OMG get a cocker spaniel! They are great family dogs! We've had them forever, and there's a great rescue in Queens called Abandoned Angels. Regarding off leash...well it depends on the training. My dog doesn't roam far from me, and comes when he's called but I wouldn't take him somewhere near a main road no matter what. Depending on where you live there are dog parks that you can let your dog go off leash, and there are indoor runs also. My sisters dog goes to doggie day care to let him get worn out on days that they are going to be out long.

Really? I remember a few growing up and they were always nasty with kids.

Re: Letting your dog run off leash
No where really allows off leash other than dog parks. Most parks don't even allow dogs on a leash sadly.
Why are you interested in off leash, may I ask?

Really? We had one as kids and now I have one, my sister has one and my mom has another, actually from that rescue. I think that a dogs personality has just as much to do with the family as it does with itself. Like a Kirsty Allie said when she dates a guy with kids, if the kids are a$$holes the guy is one in disguise.
