You can't be responsible for someone else's financial decisions and IMO it's rude to refuse a gift. Plus who knows if they got it on sale or if it was on layaway for a year I'd just accept it graciously and with many thanks

Yeah - we're not going to refuse it, I know that would be rude Would you feel weird about it too though?

While a $300 would never be expected, I would graciously accept it. One of my best friends is single and has no kids- so she spoils my kids ROTTON. She called me from the mall the other day and gave me the rundown of what she got them- I jokingly told her she was crazy but in reality, if it's what she chooses to do, than so be it. To be honest, I am actually quite honered that someone else loves my kids that much!
