Need some ideas for a basket for new parents
Crashing ladies!
My BIL and SIL are expecting their first , and are having a baby shower next month. We're unable to attend due to a work commitment, so Id like to make a basket of all the essentials they would need for the first few weeks. They do not have a registry, and are having a , but do not want any gender specific items. Also, they are withholding the name until she is born.
Could you please list the essentials that you think they would need? I am thinking of including pacifiers, bottles and nipples, a&d ointment etc. Any specific brands to get, or to stay away from? Also, should I buy some newborn clothing, or just buy all 3 month+ sizes? If this little girl is anything like her father's side of the family, she'll be a chunker lol. I don't want to buy a bunch of newborn clothes, only for her to outgrow them within a few weeks.
Thank you for any and all input

Re: Need some ideas for a basket for new parents
Wash cloths, burping cloths and receiving blankets are what I used a lot of in the beginning. Also baby wipes - the unscented ones. I don't know if you want to buy pacifiers, depending on the baby, you don't know if they'll be used or what type they will take. Same for bottles and nipples. Sometimes, the mother sticks with what the hospital uses or recommends - not sure about that one. I went with what my SIL used. Hope that helps!

Re: Need some ideas for a basket for new parents
bottle brush cleaner (i like the silicone kind) wash cloths, burp cloths, bibs, pacifiers ( I liked MAM), baby wash, diaper cream. Maybe a GC to buy diapers/wipes/formula
For later on - teethers, tub toys, sippy cups, plates, snack cups, baby silverware, more bibs

Re: Need some ideas for a basket for new parents
I would buy clothes for three months or even 6 months. I just had a baby girl two months ago and she was 6. 7 pounds and I put her in clothes that were 3 months.
i know you want suggestions for a basket but If they dont have a registry I would suggest the Fisher price rock and play sleeper. It is a lifesaver!!!My dd sleeps in it at night, I can take it from room to room throughout the day or even to our family's homes when we visit

A small laundry basket for the baby's room and baby detergent like Dreft to wash the baby's clothes. My sil did this for me and filled the laundry basket with all the essentials and wrapped it up for me when I had my first. one of the most thoughtful gifts I got.

click the infant 0-12 month category discovery toys
I really recommend the Super Yummy teether, boomerings, Glove story puppet and Try-Angle.
My son got a ton of teethers and Super Yummy is the only one he would use besides a frozen wash cloth.
Glove Story puppet is awesome for singing old macdonald & going through the different characters...also the instructions that come with the puppet teach the parent how to engage in different ways and even sing the song in French! (something I never would have known how to do unless I had that booklet! lol)
boomerings are awesome for new parents to hook things like paci, toys, teether to stroller, car seat, diaper bag etc. (they are unbreakable...but if you ever did find a way to break them all DT products have a LIFETIME guarantee and
Try-Angle is a really cool learning toy my son as well as many other children began playing with it before the 6 month mark...it has gears to turn, a button that honks, parts to move and a mirror to look at themsleves in. It fold into a triangle and you can also put it on their lap when seated. (and it's easily wipeable / washable)
