Re: spin shoes?

I wear Pearl Izumi's and they run basically true to size--I wear an 8 1/2 sneaker in Asics and wear a 8 1/2 in spin shoes.

Re: spin shoes?

I just started spin last week and I love it! I'm interested in getting the sneakers but wanted to know what makes them different. Is it really a big difference than wearing running sneakers? What makes them a must have? Thanks!

Spin shoes will clip in to the pedals that are on the bike. You want to make sure what clips your studio or gym uses before you go ahead and put the clips on.

Using regular sneakers in the cages will eventually do more harm than good... you don't engage the proper muscles when you use them. That's why if you are going to make the commitment to stick with spin, it's wise to invest in shoes and the right clips Chat Icon

Your spin shoes should not be tight, there should be a tiny bit of room at the toes for movement. A snug shoe will only end up doing you harm... and be painful.

Thank you! I had no idea about the clips. That makes sense since my foot has fallen out twice and one time it almost fell out, but instead jammed forward and hurt my toe! Thanks again!

Exactly... that's the danger. When you ride with normal sneakers in the cages, you tend to put too much pressure on the balls of your feet or concentrate on keeping your toes in the cages, which eventually makes you point your toes when riding. You are NOT supposed to ride that way. You should be riding with a flat foot pushing more through the heels vs. the toes.
