Re: West Babylon
I'm in WB. We don't have children yet, but the schools are supposed to be very good. We have cousins that attended the schools and the parents were extremely happy. Like most towns, some areas are better than others. We are very happy with the area we are in. If you're interested in a more detailed description of different areas feel free to FM me.

ETA Some parts of WB attend North Babylon School Disrtict. I'm not familiar with NBSD personally, but I do know a few friends that are not happy with the middle and high schools.

Re: West Babylon
West Babylon is HUGE - literally. There are so many different areas - some I like, some I don't. And as the PP said, some are NB schools - some I believe may be Babylon schools (very few). If you could narrow down areas, we could probably give you a more definite opinion.
I do know people with DC in the WB school district and they do like the district. It is a big district though.

Re: West Babylon
While WB may have a large school system, t he town itself has a small-town feel. The library is excellent, the youth center and sports league have a lot to offer. So much so that many kids come from other towns to play here. Many of my neighbors graduated from wbhs and have stayed buying either their parents homes or other homes in the area. There is a lot of shopping right in here in town, both mom and POP and chains.
There is really only one undesirable part of WB, most of the areas are great. Many people own their own businesses or take advantage of the decent lirr community to Manhattan. Since we are so close to parkway and highway any commute is doable.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've lived here for 17 years and am graduating my first from wbhs this year.

Re: West Babylon
We live in West Babylon, but are actually in the Babylon school district. I love the area, have nothing but nice things to say about it. My DS just started kindergarten, and so far, we love the Babylon SD. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby, both in the village and around town. Very close to parkways and LIRR. We've been here for 8 years, and are very happy.

Re: West Babylon
Thank you do much for your responses. I will definitely keep WB on my list. I would LOVE to live near Babylon village but most of the houses are way above our budget but we keep looking.

Re: West Babylon
I just answered on FHF, but I'll answer here too. Love WB! I grew up there and hope to move back so my DD can go to WB schools. I love the district. Like a PP said - some of the areas are North Babylon or Babylon school districts, so you'll want to keep that in mind as you look. Babylon is a good school district too.

Re: West Babylon
We live in WB. My husband grew up here and loves it. If we stay in NY, this is where we will stay.
My DD is in KG and the school is great. We are active in the sports.
I would stay away from anything North of the Southern State, as it turns into Wyandanch.

Re: West Babylon
I grew up in WB and all of my family is still there. My Nieces and nephews all go to school there, and most of my friends I graduated with, now teach in the district. There are def. some areas better than others but, overall it is a great town. School district has definitly improved as well!!
Edit to fix spelling
