Some of the sets she got (the cutting food, and one of the others) came with small wooden crates. I leave the crates in the fridge/stove of her kitchen and store the food pieces in there. I also have a small piece of furniture with 3 drawers dedicated to her kitchen stuff. What about plastic shoe boxes from the dollar store?

Re: Melissa and Doug storage

We put the fridge food in his play kitchen fridge. His kitchen is really small so not much fits in there so we dedicated a bin of his toy storage to play food. We got a puzzle rack from target for the puzzles which is great by it fits the chunky puzzles too. And he has the M&D instruments which are also on his toy storage shelf in the wooden box it came in. I also recommend plastic bins from the dollar store. You can label them too for easy cleanup.

Re: Melissa and Doug storage

Thats the one thing I dont really like about the Melissa and Doug stuff- they dont have tops to their products. We store it in fabric bins that fit into a cube organizer we have in the playroom.

Re: Melissa and Doug storage

My biggest pet peeve with M&D stuff is once you open them, storage is awful! I use ziploc bags for most of the stuff.

I also found that sometimes when you buy sheet sets they come with a nice zippered bag - the birthday cake set fits nicely into one of those.

The fridge food and pantry food are stored in the play kitchen. The dress up wooden princess is in a zip lock bag. The puzzles are in a round wood ottoman with lid that I got at Target. The trains are in the train bin. While I am a huge fan of melissa and doug toys I really don't like the lack of lids.

Same issue here and I got a big plastic box with lid from BB&B and that's where we keep all of those things.

i used to do the ziplocs but they always fell apart and looked sloppy. i now use small plastic containers. i found some good ones at the dollar store that look neat and hold up (shaped like a shoe box and clear) and then some really awesome ones @ Target that have cute designs on them (in the kiddie storage aisle) so awesome-great sizes, look cute, close nicely. i bought tons of them for a lot of loose toys that i want to store together.

I put those wooden dress up things into a shoe box size plastic bin and on the shelf. The food goes in the kitchen. Puzzles stacked up on shelf.

We got a Melissa and Doug puzzle rack which fits the big knob puzzles and the sound puzzles great. I also have cubicles from Target which fits most of the wooden boxes in the cubes.
