Protein in urine at 32 weeks
I just got back from my 32 week appointment and had high levels of protein in my urine sample. I'm doing a 24 hour collection starting tomorrow and can't help but be worried about preeclampsia. I don't have any other symptoms like swelling or high blood pressure, so that is promising.
Anyone in this position and have it turn out not to be preeclampsia? Or even if it did, can you tell me what to expect just in case.

How was your blood pressure, L?
Oops, I just reread and saw that your BP was fine. I hope everything is ok!

Re: Protein in urine at 32 weeks
I dont have much exerience/knowledge with this but- my SIL had her baby Oct 28.... around the first week in sept the dr told her she had protein in her urine & they were worried about preeclampsia but her BP was fine. they kept her doing the urine collections & her BP remained normal. Everything worked out fine for her. perfectly healthy momma & baby!
ETA: a couple of times the protein in her urine was high, but her BP remained normal. I am not sure if they found out why her protein levels were higher.

Re: Protein in urine at 32 weeks
I will be 32 weeks on Friday and have had to do the 24 hr urine twice already. I have high protein levels in my urine as well as swelling and some moderately high BP. They will monitor you closely. My Dr put me on a low dose 81 mg aspirin and said to try to take it easy. I was told that they dont worry until it reaches the 300 mark or higher. Just try to take it easy. You are in the home stretch. I know its is easier said than done because I am having issues myself relaxing but everything will be okay. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Protein in urine at 32 weeks
At my 31 week appointment, they found protein in my urine. I had to do a 24 hour urine collection starting the next day. Four days later I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and admitted to the hospital. Within 24 hours of that, I had to have an emergency c-section because my BP was out of control and at dangerous levels.
That said, when I walked in to my 31 week appointment, the doctor said to me "wow, you look like a different person!" - I was SO SWOLLEN. My whole face was ridiculous, my hands, my body. I had gained 15 lbs in 2 weeks (at that point I had only previously gained 18 lbs the entire pregnancy!). From Monday afternoon to Thursday morning, I gained another 5 lbs. It was insane.
The one thing that was missing was the high blood pressure. My doctor on Thursday said I should start planning for an earlier delivery. I was like huh? Dude I've never had high blood pressure ever, plus I'm not even 32 weeks and my baby shower is in 2 weeks! LOL She said, honestly your BP can change at any time and with the protein and swelling, we believe you're developing pre-eclampsia so we need to watch you. If you get a headache or start seeing spots in your eyes, call us immediately as those are signs of high BP.
That night I saw a fireburst of spots in my left eye. I freaked out, but since it went away I let DH convince me it was all ok. Um, STUPID STUPID! Thankfully everything turned out well, but I called them the next morning to let them know FYI and they had me come in right away for "monitoring". My BP was already high, I was officially diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and admitted. They were hoping to control the BP for at least a week in the hospital, but no-go. 24 hours later I was being wheeled in for an emergency c-section.
In the end, I had a lot of the signs. If you JUST have protein, that does not necessarily mean you will get pre-e. You just have to keep getting monitored to make sure all is ok. Lots of people shared stories with me when this happened and said they had just one of the signs for weeks and were able to go longer without needing to deliver early or as early as they feared.

NO! Definitely do not look at anything on the internet! That was the first thing my Dr told me. They always give you the worst case scenario and scare he crap out of you! LOL.

i am sorry, but for me it was pre-e. i ended up on hospital bedrests and delivered 5 days later when i developed HELLP syndrome. there is nothing you can do to make it better. there is a chance your 24hour comes back OK and they just put you on regular bedrest or possibly just a UTI. i hope thats the case for you. i never expected to be put on hospital bedrest and i esp never imagined delivering at 33w1d. i dont want to scare you, my experience was overall pretty atypical because i had more complications than just pre-e, but if you want to read my birth story click here.
good luck!!
